2 dead as heaviest rainfall in 10 years floods Las Vegas strip for second time in weeks

Flash floods swept the iconic Las Vegas strip for the second time in weeks early Friday, causing two deaths as water to seep into casinos and flood parking garages.

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas issued a flash flood warning early Friday just after midnight warning of heavy rains, lightning and gusty winds. Videos on social media captured a bus floundering through an intersection that floodwaters had turned into lagoon and a car battling strong currents of downhill flooding............

...............The gambling town is experiencing its most intense monsoon season in a decade. It has seen 1.28 inches of rainfall in 2022, according to the National Weather Service. The region hadn’t received more than an inch in rainfall since 2014, according to the National Weather Service............

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Wow, I guess it cleared up because my daughter, SIL and grandson drove into Vegas around 9AM Saturday and they haven't said a word about problems.

Better get em on the telephone and see if you've gotta come get em, and whether to bring the duck boat or the pontoon.

No, really - I hope it's all good.

It is hard to believe that an inch of rain can cause so much trouble... It takes 7-10 inches to do much flooding around here.

Where you are is made to soak it up. In the desert that inch of rain is flash floods in arroyos. Even up in here, an inch of rain, you better be careful around the water, because it can come up quick. Although here, it may come up quick, but it's gone again quick.

This after storm report of deaths is just more weather porn designed to advance the global warming narrative. On any given day, in any given city, people die for various reasons; we really don’t know what caused these deaths on this night. in other words, weather news, like political news, is driven by an agenda.

The soil is very hard, little if any rain is absorbed and runs off, accumulating in washes and then accelerating downstream.  Desert soil needs slow, light rains to allow for absorption.  These monsoon storms are anything but and are not something to dismiss due to their real dangers.
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.

And meanwhile, we can't buy rain here in New England...
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Bone dry where I am in California, All I get is to watch the monsoon moisture pile up at the mountains before it rolls into Arizona and Nevada.
