'May have never happened in modern history': Former FBI agent discusses rare search on Mar-a-Lago

A former FBI agent who has been on hundreds of searches said the one at former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort is unique.

"The issuance of a search warrant in connection with a former president of the United States, that is a very, very unusual occurrence and that may have never happened in modern history," Stuart Kaplan said.

If the reason for the warrant was not found, he said that it may never be public knowledge. If something was found, Kaplan said criminal charges could be filed.

There's no timeline for when more information could be announced.

If the FBI was looking for documents, they could’ve contacted Trump’s attorneys. This matter could’ve been resolved with a phone call. This raid was a show of force. A reminder that if they can do whatever they please to a President, nobody is safe. This was a warning.

That only happens in cases where the leaks either harm Republicans or protect Democrats.  Not gonna happen here.

The word of the day is “Banana Republic”

There are two legal systems in the US now. If you’re on the same team as the Regime, the FBI will happily go slow on your laptop investigation, even if it implicates past Vice Presidents, and potential Presidential candidates and in an election year and on matters of national security. Likewise, using private servers while being Secretary of State and getting a subpoena and bleaching 33,000 emails. That’s OK too.

Just after the unarmed “insurrection” Mark Steyn predicted they have to erase him:

A two-tier justice system is not a justice system. It is a totalitarian system. Its purpose is not justice but population control.

On Thursday, Barack Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder decided it was the time to bring the subtext of the Jan. 6 show trials and related domestic security state activities into the open.

“My guess is that by the end of this process, you’re going to see indictments involving high-level people in the White House, you’re going to see indictments against people outside the White House who were advising them with regard to the attempt to steal the election, and I think ultimately you’re probably going to see the president, former president of the United States indicted as well,” Holder told SiriusXM host Joe Madison.

Holder noted that the U.S. Department of Justice he formerly headed is working with the illegally constituted Jan. 6 Commission towards this goal. We know these entities are also working with the FBI, whose head bit his thumb at congressional oversight repeatedly in a public hearing last week.

Locking Up Opposition Politicians Is What Putin Does

An indictment of former President Donald Trump would be a breathtakingly authoritarian turn. It would amount to the U.S. security state refusing to accept “no” from America’s voters yet again. An indictment would be an unelected and unaccountable federal agency overruling voters’ two-time rejection of impeachment through their elected representatives.

This is the core danger of the administrative state: Its now open propensity to go rogue. It is apparently hellbent now on turning the United States into a banana republic.

Democrats called Donald Trump a fascist, authoritarian, and wannabe dictator for chants at his rallies of “Lock her up,” referring to his opponent Hillary Clinton. At the time, leftists pointed out that imprisoning, interrogating, investigating, and otherwise using government resources to harass and prosecute one’s political opponents was the mark of tyrannical regimes such as Vladimir Putin’s and Adolf Hitler. “Democracies don’t lock up political opponents,” the Washington Post editorial board told us in 2016.

That is still true when the ones pushing the interrogations, investigations, entrapments into committing felonies, show trials in unusual venues with no cross-examination or due process, early morning home raids, excessive detainment, and asymmetrical punishments are Democrats. Democrats are trashing republican institutions, expectations, and guarantees for political purposes, most visibly now in their Jan. 6 effort to destroy the lives of protestors largely charged with misdemeanors and to expand Spygate tactics more broadly.

These Top GOP Senators Still Haven’t Condemned Democrats’ Banana Republic FBI Raid On Donald Trump

Some in Senate GOP leadership including Minority Leader McConnell have refused to condemn the rogue FBI’s actions against Trump.

More than 24 hours after the FBI’s “unannounced raid” on former President Donald Trump’s home, some in Senate GOP leadership including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have refused to condemn the rogue agency’s actions against their party leader.

While House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy rushed to condemn the Department of Justice’s “intolerable state of weaponized politicization” the night of the raid and even announced plans to “conduct immediate oversight of this department,” neither McConnell, Senate Republican Policy Committee Chair Roy Blunt, nor Senate Republican Whip John Thune had publicly mentioned a word to their constituents, the press, or their colleagues by Tuesday afternoon about taking action against the politicized bureaucratic agencies that have increasingly targeted Americans.

Instead of addressing the two-tiered justice system in the U.S., something nearly 80 percent of Americans say is a legitimate problem facing the nation, as a united party that stands behind its former presidential leader, McConnell and his Senate peers have remained deliberately mum on the FBI’s ambush at Mar-a-Lago.

Their offices did not immediately respond to The Federalist’s questions about whether they plan to condemn the raid.
