The mainstream news media no longer view their role as being that of a reporter, but rather as that of a promoter.

Accordingly, all events are filtered through templates; only those facts that fit a predetermined interpretation, agenda or outcome are included, all else is purposefully excluded. 

Consequently, their output is no longer "news", but propaganda.
 
Given such an imperative, no event is too small or insignificant to escape the influence of their desire, as objectivity is sacrificed on the altar of desire, and reality is made to bend its knee to the will to power.
