A furious Beijing today warned US politicians they will 'come to no good end' if they 'play with fire' over Taiwan as video emerged purportedly showing tanks lined up on beaches opposite the island.

Chilling footage shared on Chinese social network Weibo appears to show amphibious tanks on the coast of Fujian along the Taiwan Strait. Further footage shows military equipment on the move in the city of Xiamen.

The unverified videos emerged amid soaring tensions between China and US with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expected to touch down in Taipei at 2.20pm GMT today. Pelosi would be the highest-ranking U.S. elected official to visit Taiwan since 1997.

Her jet left the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday morning, according to flight-tracking website Flightradar24. The site later crashed after 300,000 people tried to chart Pelosi's journey.

Beijing earlier warned that the United States will 'pay the price' if Pelosi visits Taiwan while Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday that those U.S. politicians who 'play with fire' on the Taiwan issue will 'come to no good end'.

Moscow also weighed in and accused the US of 'destabilizing' the world by allowing Pelosi to visit Taiwan.

Amid the intensifying warnings from China over Pelosi's visit, four US warships, including the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, were positioned in waters east of Taiwan on 'routine' deployments.

Massing tanks on a beach seems kinda stupid.  If they were going to attack it makes more sense to mass them in large troop carriers in harbors.  This is more of a parade, like the events held regularly in Red Square.

When,if the communists still controlling Russia are hanged,fired,or even set on fire in the middle of Red Square for their insane idea to invade Ukraine and turn it into a vassal state controlled by Russia again,what China thinks or says is irrelevant.

 As long as  China is the ONLY semi-first world nation still standing,they are harmless.

Not only harmless,but with no allies,we can starve them out of business in the dark.

Give it a decade or even less,and China will also put a knife in the heart of communism,not to mention any of the politburo still there to hang or back against a wall.

There ARE going to be some massive "boo-boos",though because in all of the history since the dawn of time,the Chinese have never been a free people.

"Adjustments" MUST be made,and those of us in the west need to do our  best to not get too pushy too fast. We will need to give the new government a little time to adjust to such a massive new reality.

Still,China can NOT stand alone against the rest of the world. Without Russian designed and build fighter bombers,and everything else from their handguns to their missile launchers coming from Russia,dey be screwed.

Hell,they bought a surplus aircraft carrier from Russia because they couldn't figure out how to build one themselves,and IF it is the "Chinese" aircraft carrier mentioned in the news,chances are they had to import former Russian Navy carrier crewmen to teach them how to use it and keep it from sinking.

IIRC,that aircraft carrier was built while Gorbachev was still the Soviet Maximum Leader.

Can you say "obsolete"?

Yeah, they flog the incentive out of all but a few. Those few, however, are over here in the Universities as Grad Students and working in labs like the one that created SARS CoV-2.

Those are the ones pipelining our ideas back home where the copycats are using them.
Either that, or factories are being set up over there (have been, anyway) for technologies that are dual use, and in the process, the blueprints and metallurgical specs are given away.
