A Plan To Tax Women For Being 'Childless'? Welcome To Gilead

Rachel Moss - 3h ago

The country’s birth rate is declining and we’ll be faced with a shortage of workers in the future. The solution posed by one Oxford academic? Tax the people who don’t have kids.

In an article published by the Sunday Times this weekend, demographer Dr Paul Morland puts forward some suggestions for “incentivising families to have more children and to have them when they are younger”.

“Introduce a ‘negative child benefit’ tax for those who do not have offspring,” he says. “This may seem unfair on those who can’t or won’t have children, but it recognises that we all rely on there being a next generation and that everyone should contribute to the cost of creating that generation.”

He then suggests the UK could “use the funds to fix the UK’s broken, expensive early-years care system”.

To be fair and equitable, as liberals always say,  this proposal has to include trannie women. :yowsa:

Oddly enough, people did well enough at having children long before government, otherwise, we would not be here.

As with most things, though, the more Government gets involved, the less most sane people want to do with it.
(We have seen what they can do to a wet dream, just imagine the treacly tendrils of government in actual consummation...)

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Any income tax system that provides a child credit, or a deduction for dependents, already effectively taxes the childless for not having children.

The Biden Idiocracy has with their moronic policies made it ever so much more expensive for people to consider having children, that many just will not.  I know many in their 20s saying they do not want children.

When I was a child, most women stayed home with their families.  Today, roughly 90% of both parents with children under the age of 18 are in the workforce, working to be able to provide the middle class life style.

This tax will never happen.

It already does.

Giving tax breaks for folks with dependents is not the same as taxing those that are childless.

We have to end the destruction of the family unit if we want our own population to recreate.  Even Russia gives women $5,000 with the birth of every child.  They are doing something proactive to stimulate women to have children.  Giving a deduction does not create the same stimulus.

Yeah, it pretty much is.  Money is fungible.
