Georgia grand jury subpoenas Giuliani, other Trump allies in election probe
by Caroline Vakil - 07/05/22 2:48 PM ET

A Fulton County grand jury has issued a slew of subpoenas to seven people, including Rudy Giuliani, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and conservative lawyer John Eastman, as part of an investigation surrounding former President Trump.

In addition to Giuliani, Graham and Eastman, those issued subpoenas include conservative lawyer Cleta Mitchell, podcast host Jacki Pick Deason, former Trump campaign legal adviser Jenna Ellis and pro-Trump attorney Kenneth Chesebro.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution was the first to report about the subpoenas, which were filed on Tuesday.

The Fulton County grand jury is tied to a probe launched by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, and is looking at whether there were attempts to unlawfully influence the 2020 election by Trump and his allies.

The grand jury is interested in hearing from Giuliani, it said in its subpoena to him, because he was “a lead attorney for the Trump Campaign’s legal efforts seeking to influence the results of the November
2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.”

The subpoena notes a December 2020 Georgia state Senate hearing that Giuliani and others attended in which a video was offered, among other evidence, claiming to show “suitcases” of illegal ballots being handled by election workers, which was later debunked by the Georgia secretary of state’s office.

“Additionally, the Witness possesses unique knowledge concerning communications between himself, former President Trump, the Trump Campaign, and other known and unknown individuals involved in the multi-state, coordinated efforts to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere,” the subpoena notes.

The Georgia state Senate hearing where the debunked video was offered was also noted in Ellis’ and Deason’s subpoenas.

In the grand jury’s subpoena to Graham, they cited that Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger (R) and his staff had received at least two phone calls from the senator following the 2020 election.

“During the telephone calls, the Witness questioned Secretary Raffensperger and his staff about reexamining certain absentee ballots cast in Georgia in order to explore the possibility of a more favorable outcome for former President Donald Trump,” the subpoena says, accusing Graham of making false voter fraud allegations in Georgia.

In the subpoena for Eastman, it noted that the conservative lawyer had been involved in a “fake elector” scheme aimed at overturning President Biden’s victory in the state.

The subpoena for Chesebro also cites his involvement in a fake elector scheme in the state in which he worked with the Georgia Republican Party’s leadership on a plan where 16 people who were not authorized to cast the Electoral College votes would have done so anyway in mid-December.

The subpoena for Mitchell says that in early January “former President Donald Trump, and other individuals associated with the Trump Campaign made a telephone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and members of his staff. During the telephone call, the Witness and others made allegations of widespread voter fraud in the November 2020 election in Georgia and pressured Secretary Raffensperger to take action in his official capacity to investigate unfounded claims of fraud.”

The subpoenas come against the backdrop of public hearings by the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot, which has sought to portray how the former president and his allies created a pressure campaign on former Vice President Pence and other officials aimed at rejecting the 2020 election results.

This is why you have an "associate" make undocumented contact, or at least use a public or shared hard-wired third party's phone line or a well laundered burner phone.

Senator Wet Noodle's "associate", Mac N Cheese, could have conveyed the message, "Your friend would be very disappointed if things didn't meet expectations.  You don't want to be a disappointment to your friend, do you?"

Georgia grand jury subpoenas Giuliani, Graham and other members of Trump’s legal team

The district attorney in Fulton County, Georgia, has dramatically expanded her investigation into former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, issuing subpoenas to Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and five members of Trump’s legal team, including Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman.

Acting on a petition from District Attorney Fani Willis, Fulton County Judge Robert McBurney signed off on the subpoenas, declaring that each of the individuals is a “necessary and material witness” with “unique knowledge” of the conduct under investigation, according to court records made public on Monday and reviewed by Yahoo News.

The subpoenas direct that each of the witnesses show up in Atlanta next Tuesday, July 12, to testify before a special grand jury, although, given the short notice, their appearance on that date is considered unlikely.

Coming barely a month after a special grand jury began hearing testimony in the case, on June 1, the subpoenas indicate that Willis “is not dragging her heels” and that her investigation is moving forward at a rapid pace, said Norm Eisen, a fellow at the Brookings Institution and former special counsel to the House Judiciary Committee.

Schiff: ‘Hats Off’ to Georgia DA for Pursuing Trump ‘Very Aggressively’

Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word” that his hat is off to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis because she is investigating former President Donald Trump’s action after the 2020 election “very aggressively.”

Anchor Lawrence O’Donnell said, “Now you already had your Georgia hearing. It feels like a month ago. It was a matter of a couple of weeks ago. The Georgia hearing with Brad Raffensperger, who we know is a witness in the grand jury in Georgia. Today, we get a flood of subpoenas for that grand jury, including for United States Senator Lindsey Graham. What did you see in that? Did you see a pattern in those subpoenas that went out today?”

Schiff said, “Yes, the Fulton County district attorney, hats off to her, it’s pursuing this very aggressively, the fake elector plot, the attempt to interfere with the secretary of state’s office, with the secretary of state in particular. The calls, the urging, the false claims of fraud, the false presentation about that video that took place at the State Farm Arena suggesting a corruption that wasn’t there. I have to think that it was very telling for the district attorney’s office in Fulton County to watch our hearing and see the Attorney General Bill Barr, deputy attorney general, and others talk about how they investigated this. How it was complete nonsense, and they told the president this. And so that demonstrates the president and his campaign’s knowledge that what they were pushing in Georgia was just plain false and fraudulent. So I think that provided some important evidence to the district attorney’s office. ”

The Fulton DA should be investigating why the Secretary of State violated numerous Georgia laws leading up to the election.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.
