Atascosa County deputies got into a chase with two teens in a stolen black truck from Live Oak County, dropping off immigrants being smuggled into the U.S. along the way. Both teens, a 16-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger, were arrested and charged with smuggling humans and evading arrest.

Border Patrol was already pursuing the stolen black Ford F-250 into Atascosa County on State Highway 97 on Monday morning, July 4, according to a Facebook post from Atascosa Sheriff David Soward. Deputies joined the pursuit around 7 a.m. The stolen vehicle then headed south on multiple county roads before making its way back to Farm to Market Road 1332.

The teens then let 15 immigrants, believed to have entered the country illegally, out of the truck, but they were apprehended by Border Patrol. The chase then went back to Highway 97 where it cut through Jourdanton and Pleasanton and then crashed through private fences off Plestex Road, according to the post.
