Psaki met privately with Fox News as part of WH effort to lobby for more positive coverage: Politico

The White House has quietly lobbied Fox News to soften criticism of the most unpopular president in U.S history including a private meeting between former press secretary Jen Psaki and the conservative network’s digital boss to make the website more “administration-friendly,” according to a Politico report.
According to Politico’s “West Wing Playbook” President Joe Biden’s communication team has been lobbying Fox to dial down criticism of the regime if only “marginally” with the primary focus being on foxnews.com in an “effort to push back on the site’s tone and editorial news judgment” according to the outlet.
“Any given day on foxnews.com, millions of readers see negative stories about the Biden administration’s handling of the economy, crime, immigration, and Covid-19, among many other topics. But over the past year, the White House has worked behind the scenes to get more of its perspective on Fox’s website,” Politico reported.
Prior to her departure, Psaki privately met with Porter Berry, the Fox News digital chief to “discuss the website’s portrayal of the administration,” Politico reported, citing “two people with knowledge” and that former Pentagon spokesman John Kirby “regularly corresponded” with the network’s Washington D.C. bureau chief over content on the Fox News website.
“The White House has also dangled various carrots for the network, including exclusives for its digital reporters,” according to Politico’s Max Tani and Alex Thompson.
