Due to increased drownings in an international canal, U.S. Border Patrol warned both sides of the border of the dangers of crossing.

The drownings have occurred at the International Boundary and Water Commission canal that runs parallel to the U.S.-Mexico border.

In the last several days, five drownings happened, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The latest drownings occurred Saturday, June 11. The two victims were discovered near the Border Highway Loop 376 at Paisano Road, according to CPB
