A Rhode Island health official tasked with preventing harm to children was charged Tuesday with possessing child pornography, authorities said.
Jeffrey Hill, 46, who works as the state Department of Health’s violence and injury prevention program manager, had been under investigation since March following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, state police told WPRI-TV.
The State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at his South Kingstown home Monday, State Police Maj. Robert Creamer reportedly said.
Hill was also slapped with one count of possession of child erotica, according to Washington County District Court records.
He was released on $5,000 bail and banned from using the internet and having unsupervised contact with children.
