More than 30 people dead from gun violence over Memorial Day weekend across US

By Selim Algar
May 30, 2022

More than 30 people lost their lives from gun violence around the country over a blood-spattered Memorial Day weekend — just days after the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

Dozens of victims — including 13 in Philadelphia alone — lost their lives with violence spiraling across the nation.

The City of Brotherly Love was anything but over the holiday weekend, with the staggering body count including a father and his nine-year-old son, according to local reports.

Gerald Parks, 38, and his boy, Jamel, were sprayed with bullets and killed in their car after going to a cookout, CBS 3 reported.

In another incident early Monday, two women were killed and a 14-year-old child injured after a shooting at an outdoor hookah smoking party.

At least a dozen other Philadelphians were also wounded from gunfire, cops said.

Chicago saw at least six people were killed over the weekend and another 34 injured.

...and 18 of them were in just two Democrat-run cities.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

10 people killed, 42 wounded by gunfire over Memorial Day weekend in Chicago, the most violent in five years
About half of those shot were on the West Side, most of them in a single police district where there were two mass shootings. At least 14 people were shot on the South Side and four downtown.

Chicago experienced its most violent Memorial Day weekend in five years — 10 killed, 42 wounded — despite stepped up police patrols and a focus on neighborhood programs that city officials hoped would provide peaceful alternatives.

About half of those shot were on the West Side, most of them in a single police district, the 11th, where there were two mass shootings on Sunday. On the South Side, at least 14 people were shot. And downtown, where there has been a spike in shootings all year, four people were hit by gunfire.

The weekend was the most violent since 2017, when seven people were killed and 45 people were wounded, according to Chicago police data. The year before, 69 people had been shot over the long holiday weekend. ...
No word on how Mayor Lightfoot recognized the holiday.

14 mass shootings tallied in US over Memorial Day weekend, data shows
By Joshua Rhett Miller

It was a somber and bloody Memorial Day weekend, as at least 14 mass shootings erupted across the United States, leaving eight dead and 59 wounded, new data from a research group shows.

The spate of gun attacks — from Nevada to Texas to Pennsylvania — broke out amid calls for gun control following the May 24 school massacre in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 students and two teachers dead.

The deadliest Memorial Day weekend shooting occurred Monday in Philadelphia, when two people were killed and another two wounded as multiple gunmen opened fire at a holiday event, according to the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive. ...

James Alan Fox, a professor of criminology, law and public policy at Northeastern University, said holiday weekends generally have more violence due to the presence of parties and alcohol.

“Holidays always seem to have more mass shootings because you have large groups of people gathering for a party where there’s alcohol and sometimes there’s a gun,” Fox told The Post on Tuesday.

The 14 mass shootings tallied over the Memorial Day weekend was “not that unusual,” Fox said, given that there’s been roughly one per day in US on average in the last few years. ... NY Post

How many of them were people who do not have any criminal records?

Of course, a fact one cannot mention in "polite" company is that if one disaggregates murders in America by the country/region of ancestry of the perpetrator, they track the murder rates in the country of ancestry.  Whether this a cultural artifact or points to factors from the biological basis of human behavior can be disputed endlessly with present data.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

True, but not in the present political climate...
