Serious question. Did anyone really believe that Paul Pelosi would face any consequence at all for his DUI crash? Anyone who’s been paying attention knows that the rules don’t apply to Dems they just want you to abide by what they say not what they do. Recurring theme!

    The Napa County Department of Corrections released a booking photo Monday showing Paul Pelosi after his arrest for allegedly driving under the influence back on May 28.

Pelosi, the 82-year-old multi-millionaire husband of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, allegedly drove with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08%, according to court records. The California Highway Patrol and the county sheriff's department had both previously declined requests for more information or images in the case, citing the ongoing investigation.

Even a description of any property damage or injuries has been withheld.

"In Napa County, the decision to release or withhold mugshots or booking photos lies with the Napa County Department of Corrections, not the District Attorney’s Office," a county spokesperson said in a statement Monday. "In the days after Mr. Pelosi’s arrest, Napa County followed the Department of Corrections’ policy regarding the release of booking photos and mugshots. Mr. Pelosi received the same treatment under that policy that all individuals released from County Jail receive."

The normal clearance rate for men is considered to be one drink per hour.

One drink = 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor, 12 ounces of 5% beer, or five ounces of 12% wine.

At those amounts, for a 240 pound man, four drinks would yield a BAC of between .08 and .10, according to this chart, .10 is the number. https://dui.drivinglaws.org/drink-table.php

If, after four hours, Mr Pelosi's BAC still tested out above .08 (they never said what, just above .08), then his BAC at the time of the incident, assuming he had no more to drink from the time of the incident, was at least a .16 (double the legal limit), and may have been considerably higher--because we don't know what the test yielded, only that it was above .08.

Note: The above regression assumes he weighs 240 lbs. If he weighs more, the BAC per drink comes in as less, and his total BAC at the time of the wreck would be lower, but the bottom line is that whatever it was at the time he was arrested, it was greater than at the time he was tested, unless they sat around the cop shop doing shots or sipping merlot.

Yeah, this is one of those 'If you value your job, this will go away', 'Don't you know who I am? things', the sort of aggressive defense ordinary people won't get.

Napa District Attorney Charges Paul Pelosi with DUI Misdemeanors

The Napa County District Attorney has charged Democrat U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, with two misdemeanors for driving under the influence of alcohol, a crime for which he was previously arrested.

On May 28, police arrested Paul Pelosi after his 2021 Porsche collided with a 2014 Jeep on a Highway 29 intersection. His blood alcohol level stood at .082 percent; the California legal limit is .08 percent. The two charges filed by the Napa district attorney include “driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with a .08% blood alcohol level or higher and causing injury,” according to the Napa Valley Register.

The district attorney’s press release noted that DUI charges can fluctuate between felony or misdemeanor under California law based on the “extent of the injuries suffered by the victim.”

“This decision is consistent with how our office handles these cases with similar injuries,” the press release said.

Paul Pelosi has not stated if he will contest the charges, the punishment for which includes “fines and fees, up to five years of probation, a minimum of five days in jail, installation of an ignition interlock device and completion of a court-ordered drunken driver class, among others,” according to the Register.

Pelosi is scheduled to appear in the Napa County Superior Court on August 3.

The district attorney’s office further rebuked accusations from conservatives that the charges against Paul Pelosi were immediately dropped, alleging the office received a flurry of “angry calls” based on false reports.

“There’s been bad information pushed out and sometimes the rumors can, they travel quickly on social media,” said Henry Wofford, public information officer for the Napa County Sheriff’s office. “If something doesn’t sound right we encourage them to check out our social media web pages or give us a call to check whether it’s accurate or not.”

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has yet to release the bodycam footage of Pelosi’s arrest, charging that doing so could “jeopardize” the investigation.

“The Public Records Unit (PRU) has determined the Department possesses records responsive to your request,” the CHP said in response to a query from Fox News. “However, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office has advised the release of records would jeopardize an ongoing investigation. As such, records are being withheld pursuant to Government Code section 6254 (f).”

A misdemeanor can land you 12 months jail time.  Not sure of the fine, but in most states, it's $1,000.  I once saw a judge fine a guy $1,000 for a speeding ticket which technically is also a misdemeanor.  He deserved the fine, btw.  He was clocked at 110 mph down SR-400.  He showed up in court wearing a robe and bath sandals, and had the balls to tell the judge that a Chevy Tahoe couldn't go that fast.  But he also had $1,000 cash on him like he was expecting it.

    The CHP officers who responded say Pelosi had “objective signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication” … such as watery eyes, slurred speech and a “strong odor” of alcohol on his breath. They say he also showed signs of impairment after field sobriety testing.

    Interestingly, they also note Pelosi handed officers his “11-99 Foundation” card when they asked him for ID. The foundation provides financial assistance and scholarships to CHP officers and their families.

That’s a subtle hint to “give me a break.”

Me either, in a crash that totaled both vehicles, even with airbags I would expect bruising and more signs of intoxication. This picture looks like he had the opportunity to sober up and get fresh clothes and makeup.
