In an apparent lesson from Covid, American Oligarch Bill Gates wants eyes on any potential future pandemic.

Among his proposals is for the WHO to initiate a worldwide surveillance team consisting of experts who can rapidly identify new health threats worldwide and immediately coordinate with global governments to prevent illnesses from evolving into pandemics CNBC reports.

Gates, who has called his proposed task force the “Global Epidemic Response and Mobilization” (GERM) initiative, told the Financial Times that the initiative would need significant financial investment from the WHO and its member states to establish an international team of experts, among them epidemiologists and virologists. His idea would also give them the tools they need to take the initiative in identifying and containing outbreaks.

In an interview with the Financial Times on Sunday, the former Microsoft CEO warned thethe Financial Times on Sunday, “We’re still at risk of this pandemic generating a variant that would be even more transmissive and even more fatal.”

The article headline is a bit misleading. Ignoring that:

* China lied for 3-4 weeks about having no evidence of human-human transmission of Covid, and has systematically/vastly lied for nearly 2 1/2 years about their cases and death stats, but Gates fantasizes China will provide accurate and timely info for a global epidemic early warning system?

* Russia has lied to a significant degree for nearly 2 1/2 years about their cases and death stats, but Gates fantasizes Russia will provide accurate and timely info for a global epidemic early warning system?

* Iran ... NoKo ...

WHO already has such a cooperative system in place, but its problem - ineptitude aside - is with countries like China, who lie and withhold information, and the numerous countries whose healthcare systems aren't capable of timely and accurate epidemic detection and reporting. Bill Gates needs to be tested for recreational chemicals if he believes nations like those would be cooperative meaningful partners in the reporting system he envisions.
