The Uvalde Police Department and the Uvalde Independent School District police force are no longer cooperating with the Texas Department of Public Safety's investigation into the massacre at Robb Elementary School and the state's review of the law enforcement response, multiple law enforcement sources tell ABC News.

A spokesman for Texas DPS, which is running the state's investigations, declined to comment.

The Uvalde police chief and a spokesperson for the Uvalde Independent School District did not immediately respond to requests for comment from ABC News.

According to sources, the decision to stop cooperating occurred soon after the director of DPS, Col. Steven McCraw, held a news conference Friday during which he said the delayed police entry into the classroom was "the wrong decision" and contrary to protocol.

Last Tuesday's attack, one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history, left 19 children and two adults dead.

Texas shooter’s grandmother was a teacher’s aide at Robb Elementary School

The grandmother of the crazed gunman who killed 21 at a Texas elementary school last week worked at the school as a teacher’s aide, a close friend of the family told The Post.

The friend, who asked to be kept anonymous, did not know if that’s why Salvador Ramos, 18, chose Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, as his target — but his grandmother’s employment there is the first direct link between Ramos and the school, which is a half-mile from her home.

“His grandmother worked in one of those classrooms a lot of the time,” the friend told The Post. “She knows a lot of the kids who died and was close to them.”

Before Ramos went on a rampage at the school, he shot his grandmother, Celia “Sally” Martinez Gonzales, in the face at her home. While Gonzales was employed by the school at the time of the shooting, according to the friend and public records, it’s not clear why she was not there on the day of the attack.

The teenager had been sleeping on his grandparents’ couch two or three months before the shooting, Ramos’ grandfather previously told The Post. The husband said his 66-year-old wife had asked Ramos to start paying for his own cellphone bill just before the shooting happened.

Have friends who are married with a stable job for years who want this or that weapon but cannot afford it.

This is getting pretty fishy.  The State of Texas is the primary authority here. To not cooperate is only possible if the federal government has the City's back. 

How could that be unless the government and city are hiding something important?  Maybe he is illegal after all so the usage of this incident for gun control morphs into an incident to stop illegals from entering.  Not what the feds want at all to happen, but something Texans would certainly support.

An employee at Robb Elementary School had propped open a door to carry food from a car to the classroom last Tuesday, but closed it shut after realizing that a gunman was loose and heading toward the school, her San Antonio lawyer said.

“She saw the wreck,” Flanary said. “She ran back inside to get her phone to report the accident. She came back out while on the phone with 911. The men at the funeral home yelled, ‘He has a gun!’ She saw him jump the fence, and he had a gun so she ran back inside.

“She kicked the rock away when she went back in. She remembers pulling the door closed while telling 911 that he was shooting. She thought the door would lock because that door is always supposed to be locked.”

Both Flanary and the source said a person exiting through the door might not be able to tell if it was locked.

The source said at least one other school employee has reported to federal agents and DPS that at least one other door in the building did not lock, so investigators are looking into that report. Investigators also have received reports that another entry/exit door into the building was open during school hours, the source said.

It is very difficult to get any straight story coming from the authorities in Texas. Seems to be a full blown cover-up. At least as much as they can get away with.

A week after the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, details are increasingly emerging that change the original timelines that were given. The updates, as it turns out, are often more tragic and infuriating.

Matt highlighted on Friday afternoon how the Texas Department of Public Safety, Col. Steven C. McCraw explained that they had made the decision for officers to not go in to engage with the shooter, Salvador Rolando Ramos, the 18-year old who is now deceased. This happened all while Ramos murdered 21 people, as parents desperately tried to go in to save their children but were physically prevented from doing so by police. McGraw also acknowledged that that  was a mistake, calling it "not the right decision," and saying "it was the wrong decision."

The incompetency and mistakes are getting even more heartbreaking, though. ABC News reported on Tuesday night that "Uvalde police, school district no longer cooperating with Texas probe of shooting: Sources."

Uvalde school police chief Pete Arredondo was formally sworn in as a new city council member on Tuesday, despite not responding to a request for a follow-up interview from the Texas Rangers who are investigating last week's school shooting.

"Uvalde City Council members were sworn in today as per the City Charter. Out of respect for the families who buried their children today, and who are planning to bury their children in the next few days, no ceremony was held," Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin said Tuesday evening.

"Our parents deserve answers and I trust the Texas Department of Public Safety/Texas Rangers will leave no stone unturned."

‘Lock malfunctioned’: Surveillance shows teacher slammed door shut, called 911 as shooter climbed gate

Despite previous claims by Uvalde police, the unnamed teacher at Robb Elementary School who propped open a school door with a rock, reportedly closed it when she heard gunshots, but it didn’t lock and the killer gained access.

New surveillance footage shows that the teacher who was blamed for propping open the door so food could be brought into the school was not at fault for the gunman slaughtering 19 children and two adults, refuting prior statements to the press by Texas Department of Safety Director Steve McCraw. The teacher’s attorney asserts she closed the door as she heard gunshots being fired at funeral home employees.

“She saw the wreck. She ran back inside to get her phone to report the accident. She came back out while on the phone with 911. The men at the funeral home yelled, ‘He has a gun!’ She saw him jump the fence, and he had a gun so she ran back inside,” the teacher’s attorney Don Flanary stated, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The simple truth is if someone wanted into the school, the door would make little difference. Unless all the windows are barred, which can't be done for fire safety reasons, they are easily breached.
