Police and other emergency services in Texas are responding to reports of an “active shooter” at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, local officials and witnesses say. Only few details are currently available.

The incident began just before noon on Tuesday when officers were called for a shooting at or near Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, a small city about 77 miles west of San Antonio.

“There is an active shooter at Robb Elementary. Law enforcement is on site,” the school district said in a statement. “Your cooperation is needed at this time by not visiting the campus. As soon as more information is gathered it will be shared.”

The rest of the district is under a Secure Status, it added.

Details about what happened were not immediately clear, but Mayor Don McLaughlin told Fox News that at least one person was shot, after which the shooter ran into the school. The situation is ongoing with the shooter barricaded inside.

Several people in the area reported hearing gunfire, but it’s unclear whether any shots were fired inside the school itself. A large number of emergency services have been called to the scene while officers work to secure the scene.

The Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas says it’s on lockdown Tuesday as law enforcement is responding to an "active shooter."

The Texas Department of Public Safety and Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin told Fox News that one person has been shot and the shooter – who ran to the school – became barricaded inside it.

"There is an active shooter at Robb Elementary. Law enforcement is on site," the school posted on Facebook. "Your cooperation is needed at this time by not visiting the campus."

The school later said "Robb Elementary students are being transported to the Willie DeLeon Civic Center for reunification."

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District first reported a lockdown at Robb Elementary at 11:43 a.m. local time.



"Please know at this time all campuses are under a Lockdown Status due to gunshots in the area. The students and staff are safe in the buildings," the district had said in a message to parents.

Robb Elementary is about 80 miles west of San Antonio.

Two people were killed and multiple children were hospitalized Tuesday during a shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, which was placed on lockdown as law enforcement responded to an "active shooter" who police say is now in custody.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin told Fox News that one person has been shot and the shooter – who ran to Robb Elementary School – had become barricaded inside. Uvalde Memorial Hospital confirmed that two people were brought to the hospital deceased.

Thirteen children were taken to the facility via ambulance or bus for treatment.

"There is an active shooter at Robb Elementary. Law enforcement is on site," the school posted on Facebook shortly after shots rang out. "Your cooperation is needed at this time by not visiting the campus."

No information on the suspected shooter or the victim was released. The school is located 80 miles west of San Antonio.

UVALDE, Texas – Gov. Greg Abbott said Tuesday that 14 students and a teacher were killed at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school.

Mr. Abbott said the school shooter is dead, believed to have been killed by responding officers.

Earlier reports, citing hospital officials, said two people were dead and more than two dozen children were injured.

Thirteen children were taken by ambulance or bus to Uvalde Memorial Hospital after an active shooter was reported at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, about 85 miles (135 kilometers) west of San Antonio, officials with the hospital said. The nature and severity of the people’s injuries wasn’t immediately known, as is whether the dead are included in that count.

Another hospital, University Hospital in San Antonio, said a 66-year-old woman was in critical condition.

There are 14 babies and an adult dead in a mass shooting in Uvalde Texas. I do have the name and photo of the shooter but it’s not public, but Republicans and Democrats I’m disgusted with how quick you stepped on the bodies of these babies to politicize this.

And if there were signs or if this kid was reported before and law-enforcement was aware of this Uvalde shooter and did not do anything then we have a lot of questions we need to start asking.
