Nina Jankowicz says verified Twitter users should ‘edit’ others’ tweets

By Ariel Zilber
May 12, 2022

The “disinformation expert” tapped by President Biden to head a new US agency division that critics have likened to an Orwellian “Ministry of Truth” says that “verified” Twitter users should be able to edit other users’ tweets if they believe they are misleading.

Nina Jankowicz — whose appointment as director of the new Disinformation Governance Board in the Department of Homeland Security has stoked concerns about government censorship — told participants in a recent Zoom chat that she is “verified” by Twitter before adding that “there are a lot of people who shouldn’t be verified, who aren’t legit” because “they’re not trustworthy.”

She then adds: “Verified people can essentially start to ‘edit’ Twitter [in] the same sort of way that Wikipedia is so they can add context to certain tweets.”

Jankowicz then offered up a hypothetical.

“If President [Donald] Trump were still on Twitter and tweeted a claim about voter fraud, someone could add context from one of the 60 lawsuits that went through the court or something that an election official said…so that people have a fuller picture rather than just an individual claim on a tweet,” she said.

I like this idea as long as the power is given to only one verified user and that verified user is me

We can't even edit our own twits.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

Nina Jankowicz Said She Wants to Be Able to Use Her Power to Edit Your Tweets
By Brandon Morse | May 12, 2022 11:30 AM ET

Dictator Mary Poppins and head of the “Disinformation Governance Board,” Nina Jankowicz, has proven herself to be something of a nutcase and the more that comes out about her, the worse she looks.

As posted by the Post Millennial, a clip of Jankowicz was released where she spoke about her power as a verified person on Twitter and how she should be able to use that as a way to edit the tweets of the non-verified peasantry.

Jancowikz starts off by telling her fellows in a Zoom call she’s in that she’s verified and while others are verified they shouldn’t be, not because they’re not real people, but effectively because they have different opinions than her and are not “trustworthy.”

She then expresses the idea that verified people like herself should be able to “edit Twitter” in the same way people can edit Wikipedia, and be able to “add context to certain tweets.” She, of course, gives an example that involves Trump.

Maybe Jankowicz should just be banned from Twitter?

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Yes - "edit" - a nice Orwellian euphemism for thought control and manipulation.

Biden admin 'Ministry of Truth' disinformation czar previously compared free speech to 'fairy dust'
Nina Jankowicz, the Biden admin's new head of countering 'disinformation,' once essentially equated free speech to 'fairy dust' while speaking to the British Government.
By Ian Miles Cheong | May 12, 2022

Quote
The head of Biden’s “Ministry of Truth,” Nina Jankowicz, has previously compared free speech to “fairy dust” in a testimony to the British government.

The head of the Biden administration’s Disinformation Governance Board made the comments in 2021 whilst speaking to the British Parliament regarding the implementation of the U.K’s contentious Online Safety Bill, which would ban legal content from being posted online if it had “the potential to cause harm.”

During the hearing, Jankowicz mocked alternative social media sites committed to free speech, stating, “If you leave aside the alternative ones that are gung ho—freedom of expression and fairy dust everywhere.”

A British lawmaker then questioned Jankowicz if she was in favor of setting minimum speech standards, using misogyny as an example, and asked if it should be banned.

“Yes,” Jankowicz replied, suggesting that as a “starting point,” adding that government-connected communications regulators such as Ofcom should “be able to establish the minimum standards that would be applied to all platforms and incur fines.”  ...
