A reporter for Al Jazeera was killed by gunfire on Wednesday during a clash between the Israeli army and Palestinian gunmen.

Shireen Abu Akleh, 51, was reporting on a raid by Israeli forces in the city of Jenin when she was killed. The Qatar-based media outlet said that the lethal shot was fired by the Israeli army, but the Israeli military claims the veteran journalist may have been shot by the Palestinian side.

A Palestinian official said Akleh had been "assassinated" by Israeli troops, according to Reuters.

An Agence France-Presse photographer also reported that Akleh had been shot by Israeli forces.

The Israeli Defense Forces put out a tweet on Wednesday saying it was investigating the events that occurred during the raid and "the possibility that journalists were hit by the Palestinian gunmen." ...

When you voluntarily put yourself in the situation where there is a lot of gunfire going back and forth and get killed it is not the fault of either side shooting, the responsibility for your death is 100% on you.

Except that, if I recall, the palestinians are trying to make out that Israel is targeting journalists and is therefore committing a war crime by doing so.

If the Palestinians had any kind of proof or evidence that Israel killed that journalist, you would have seen it on CNN already. The Palestinians refusing any sort of joint autopsy with international supervision is all the proof you need of what most likely happened to her.

That is the truth. And in my mind doesn't matter. If a reporter goes to a potentially dangerous situation, as commendable as it might be, you might just get killed.
