 DeWine fends off populist challengers to win Ohio GOP governor nod

GOP gubernatorial primary Tuesday, fending off challenges from populist detractors who argued he was insufficiently conservative.

NBC News and CNN both called the race for DeWine around 8:17 p.m. ET.

He defeated former Rep. Jim Renacci, restaurateur Joe Blystone and former state Rep. Ron Hood.

DeWine, who was first elected to the governorship in 2018, faced a wave of disgruntlement over his early coronavirus restrictions, including mask mandates and social distancing measures. A federal probe into an Ohio-based electric utility also ensnared people near his administration, though DeWine himself was never accused of wrongdoing.

The PA primary - governor and US Senate - will be very interesting.

The UNIPARTY made sure DeWine of OHIO won and will win the general in spite of most OHIONS cannot stand this guy. The UNIPARTY need OHIO for the 2024 election and they just secured OH with this Governor pick. The UNIPARTY wins and the country LOSES again. This probably the most important Primary in the country and the UNIPARTY was not going to lose to a CONSERVATIVE and will effect the 2024 Presidential election. Bitch, Complain but that will do NOTHING until a New OPPOSITION Party is formed??
