Disney insulted and essentially dumped 99% of their customers to appease less than one percent of the population who are are not even in their customer base. This was one of the most disastrous corporate initiatives in the history of the world. It is right up there with 'New Coke', which is listed in all MBA case studies as an idiotic self destructive move which boosted Pepsi to be a serious rival.
I've seen this first hand in my corporate experience. Those multimillionaire executives at the top of multibillion dollar companies become so isolated and arrogant that they really come to believe that anything they do is unimpeachable and is utterly correct, no matter how stupid and against any kind of common sense their ideas are. I've seen it. It is a kind of sickness that you frequently see in Hollywood and Politics. They come to believe based on their sheltered environment and all the obsequious lackeys around them, that they are Holy and infallible! They can do no wrong. They are in their own minds, "untouchable" rulers of the Earth.
