This weekend saw DeSantis kick Mickey Mouse where it hurts, saw Trump rally thousands in Ohio like it was 2016, and saw Biden in Delaware meeting with his cronies and party bosses to see if they could salvage anything from the upcoming election.
The American presidency from 2025 to 2029 is being decided now.
Make no mistake, all three men are running for president. One on his past, one on his current, and one on the hope he can steal another election. A fourth man -- Gavin Newsom -- is sitting back waiting for his opening.
Biden's hiding in Delaware. He has hunkered down preparing for the loss of the House and maybe the Senate in the midterms.
Shedding only 40 seats would be a victory for him. Obama lost 63 in 2010 and was re-elected two years later. Losing the Senate is OK if it is held to two or three seats. Collins, Murkowski and Romney are always at the ready to help Democrats out.
But four Democrat Senate seats -- Arizona, Colorado, Georgia and New Hampshire -- are likely to flip while Republicans likely will hold all 21 of their seats up for election this year.
Biden does not have much leverage. His domestic agenda is dead, a victim of his previous overspending. His failure to capitalize on the Russo-Ukrainian War stuns me. His open borders policy likely kills Hispanic support in Texas for Democrats for a long, long time.
But his biggest problem is inflation. The Producer Price Index was up 11.2% last month. It predicts where the Consumer Index will be in 6 months. Double-digit inflation can wipe out Democrats.
Biden's one hope is for a backlash when the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. That may rally his troops but it looks like another loss for him. He has gone winless since surrendering Afghanistan.
