Clueless Joe Biden Bungles Question About Extending Title 42

Charlie Spiering 21 Apr 2022

President Joe Biden appeared clueless when asked about extending the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) Title 42 measure on Thursday at the White House.

Iinstead of talking about Title 42, the president began talking about the ongoing legal appeal from the Justice Department challenging a judicial order overruling the CDC’s mask mandate on airplanes.

“Because as a matter of principle, we want to be able to be in a position where if in fact it is strongly concluded by the scientists that we need Title 42 that we’d be able to do that,” Biden said, when asked if he was considering extending the authorities beyond the scheduled expiration date in May.

“There has been no position on extending Title 42,” he concluded.

Reporters soon realized the president had mixed up the talking points about the mask mandate and used them to talk about Title 42.

What bothers me about this whole "title 42" business is that it's the wrong tool for the job.  It's desirable to cut back on illegal immigration, but using the COVID panic to accomplish it gives the Rats the authority to do things like continuing to force people on planes to wear masks and mandating vaccines.

In defending Title 42, the Republicans are justifying keeping the COVID panic going.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

Very good point.

The problem, of course, is without it we go back to the old scam in which every immigrant claimed to be seeking asylum.  That system is loved by the Dims because it enables millions of immigrants to roam around the country while waiting for disposition of their cases, plus it increases the bureaucracy of lawyers and judges, most of whom are Democrats.

We all like to be consistent in politics, but in this case a little pragmatism is called for, I think.

Until we get a real President, sadly yes.  And it's not a given Rats will exploit the door the GOP is leaving open.  They are not a bright bunch (neither is the GOPe, come to think about it).
