US Military Leaders Signal ‘Significant International Conflict’ Coming

From the moment that Russian troops began to step foot inside of Ukraine, there were fears that the conflict that arose could give way to something even larger and more unwieldy.
This is Russia that we’re dealing with, after all, and the belligerence of Vladimir Putin has been seemingly ramped up in recent weeks to include threats of nuclear annihilation and ghastly war crimes.
And so, as the world waits to see who’s going to jump in first, military leaders in the US are suggesting that World War III might be just around the corner.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin appeared before the House Armed Services Committee in their first testimony before Congress since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The two Pentagon leaders said the threats from both Russia and China remain significant, while they defended the US approach to the war and the flow of arms the US is sending to Ukraine.
