US kept hypersonic missile launch quiet to avoid provoking Russia: report

By Mark Moore
April 5, 2022

The US announced Tuesday that it had successfully test-fired a hypersonic missile after reportedly keeping the launch hush-hush for two weeks to prevent an escalation of tensions with Russia.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) revealed the Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept (HAWC) flew above 65,000 feet for more than 300 miles while reaching speeds faster than Mach 5.

The DARPA statement made no mention of the timing of the test, but CNN reported that it took place while President Biden was getting ready last month to travel to Brussels. Biden attended an emergency NATO summit in the Belgian capital before continuing on to Poland, where he met with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Ukrainian refugees and US troops.

Last month’s launch was the second successful test of the HAWC, with the first test taking place in September.

(Broken Record Here)

Why do we even remotely discuss our technological advances in front of our enemies.  Seems to be happening with regularity.

Good thing the Manhatten Project wasn't done in this age.

Because sometimes it's useful for your enemies to know what your capabilities are.

The way the Chicoms steal our technology?  Got to respectfully disagree.

Yeah, because just knowing we have it means it's been stolen.  If they were going to steal it, they'd steal it using moles already on the inside - who would already know about the development of it - so publicizing the successful test doesn't increase the risk of theft one iota.

Such data must be loaded with disinformation, or should be, to give the commies a hard time piecing it all together.  If the intel. of Ruska is as bad as their army, they won't figure anything out. :pondering:

Russia isn't the main adversary; China is.
