Border Patrol stopped 23 people on terrorist database at southern border in 2021: CBP data

Border Patrol apprehended at least 23 people coming across the southern border whose names are on the terror watchlist in 2021, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data obtained by Fox News.

Between Jan. 20 and Dec. 27, 2021, there were 23 encounters with individuals whose names matched on the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB).

Four were in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, 4 in Del Rio Sector, 3 in El Paso Sector, 2 in Tucson Sector, 2 in Yuma Sector, 4 in El Centro Sector and 4 in San Diego Sector. The information was provided to Fox News in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request submitted in December..................

Almost every one of those illegal unaccompanied minors (ceaselessly arriving at double highest rate in history) will be placed in HHS shelter & then flown to live with a “sponsor”: often another illegal alien involved with their smuggling—never to be seen by the government again.

IMMIGRATION: Numbers of illegal crossings continue to explode at the southern border.

CBP says there were 221,303 illegal aliens encounters in March — the highest monthly total ever recorded in American history.

There have been over *1.2 million* since 10/1.

CBP Reports Record 221,303 Encounters at U.S.-Mexico Border in March

According to CBP:

The 221,303 encounters in March is 37 percent more than the 165,894 in February. Most encounters -- 76 percent -- involved single adults, a 33 percent increase from February.

Encounters of unaccompanied children increased 18 percent, with 14,167 encounters in March compared with 11,984 in February. In March, the average number of unaccompanied children in CBP custody was 582 per day, compared with an average of 520 per day in February.

Encounters of family unit individuals increased by 42 percent to 37,818 in March, which is a 56-percent decrease from the peak of 86,631 in August 2021.

About half of the 221,303 total encounters -- 109,549 of them -- were processed for expulsion under Title 42, the public health (COVID) measure that is slated to expire on May 23, something that concerns both Democrats and Republicans who anticipate a massive rush to the U.S. border at that time.

Since President Biden took office in January 2021, CBP counts 2,795,640 encounters of illegal aliens at the southwest border.....

Top House Republicans question Mayorkas' ‘suitability for office’ amid border crisis

 A number of top House Republicans are doubling down on their criticism of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as the crisis at the border escalates, and questioning his suitability for office – just as the U.S. is facing yet another potential surge in migrants at the southern border.

"We write to address your actions to dismantle the security of our nation’s southern border and disregard for the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws," the more than 50 Republicans, led by Border Security Caucus co-chair Brian Babin, R-Texas., and Republican Study Committee Chair Jim Bank, say in a letter to Mayorkas, obtained by Fox News Digital.

Signers of the letter include Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, Republican Whip Steve Scalise and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik.

"Your actions have willingly endangered American citizens, undermined the rule of law and our nation’s sovereignty," they write. "Your failure to secure the border and enforce the laws passed by Congress raise grave questions about your suitability for office."

The sharp criticism of Mayorkas comes amid continued pressure by Republicans on the Biden administration over the border crisis, pressure that has only increased with the administration's announcement this month that it will end the Title 42 public health order in May – which has led to heightened concern about a massive spike in numbers in the summer months. ...........
