Poll: 68% of Republicans Say They’d Fight if U.S. Were Invaded While Majority of Democrats Say They’d Flee

A new poll out of Quinnipiac University found that if the kind of invasion we’re seeing play out in Ukraine right now were to happen in the United States, Republicans would rally to fight for their country, while the majority of Democrats would opt to flee.
As Newsmax reported:
Among Republicans surveyed, 68% said they would stay and fight compared to 40% of Democrats. Fifty-two percent of Democrats said they would flee the country, while only 25% of Republicans said the same.
A majority of overall respondents, 55%, said they would stay and fight, with only 38% saying they would leave the country. The survey polled 1,374 U.S. adults nationwide from March 4-6, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6%.
Of course, in any poll like this the percent claiming they’d stay and fight is likely higher than the percent that actually would (as some percentage are bound to chicken out if such an invasion did happen), but it’s still notable that the Republican share of those expressing a desire to stay and fight is nearly 50% larger than the Democrat share.
This also juxtaposes interestingly with how Democrats are more likely to risk American lives overseas at the moment to defend foreign nations.
