BIDEN on banning russian oil: We're moving forward with this plan understanding that many of our European partners may not be able to join us... we're a net exporter of energy, we can take this step while others cannot
Idiot is living in the past. We were a net exporter Joe, were that's past tense for the mentally challenged, until you turned us into a net energy importer.

I'm beginning to wonder if the puppet master controlling Biden is trying to force an assassination :pondering:

Joe Biden Blames ‘Putin’s Price Hike’ on Gas After Banning Russian Oil Imports

Charlie Spiering 8 Mar 2022

President Joe Biden announced his decision to ban oil imports from Russia at the White House on Tuesday, just days after his administration argued against the idea.

“We will not be part of subsidizing Putin’s war,” Biden said, painting the decision as a moral one after Russian president Vladimir Putin escalated his war in Ukraine.

Biden’s ban was announced as he faced growing pressure from a bipartisan coalition of members of Congress to pass their own bill to ban Russian oil imports.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki and other Biden officials spent days defending their decision not to ban oil imports from Russia, warning it would only enrich Putin by raising gas prices.

“It also has the potential to pad the pockets of President Putin, which is exactly what we are not trying to do,” Psaki said during a press briefing Thursday when asked why Biden had not announced a ban on oil imports from Russia.

In recent days, many oil companies already announced plans to eliminate Russian oil from their portfolios. Even Shell announced their decision to stop purchasing crude oil on Tuesday after purchasing a significant amount of discounted Russian crude oil days earlier.

From this point forward, all Russian oil will be re-labeled 'Kazak oil'.  Expect imports from Kazakstan (through Russian ports) to increase substantially.

'We're not subsidizing Putin's war': Biden says he's hitting the 'main artery of Russia's economy' by banning all energy imports, insists he pumped MORE oil than Trump and says it's time to transition to clean energy

President Joe Biden said the ban is a 'powerful blow to Putin's war machine' during White House remarks
The ban will be levied by the US alone without European Union allies, which rely more on Russian energy
Biden used their reliance on Russian oil and gas as a reason to accelerate the move toward clean energy, which he said 'will mean that no one has to worry about price at the gas pump in the future'
American markets only bought 3.5 percent of their crude oil from Russia last year, with most from Canada
Domestic gas prices have skyrocketed since Russia launched an unprovoked attack on Ukraine in late Feb
But the crisis has still exacerbated US gas prices, which reached a US-wide record average of $4.17 per gallon
The American Auto Association released a series of tips to help Americans 'conserve' fuel on Monday
Meanwhile US officials have been looking at Venezuela and Saudi Arabia as potential sellers to fill the gap
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said going to authoritarian Venezuela for oil is 'the height of insanity'
Democrat Senator Jon Tester said 'We shouldn’t be advancing other countries who don’t share our values'
More than 7 in 10 Americans still say they'd support a ban on Russian oil, a new poll released Tuesday shows
The United Kingdom is expected to levy its own ban on Russian oil, with a ban on its natural gas still in talks

PRESIDENT ATTACKS OIL INDUSTRY FOR OPPOSITION TO ENERGY PLAN; COMPANIES RESPOND WITH ANGER

By James T. Wooten
Oct. 14, 1977

WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 — President Carter tried to put new life into his badly mangled energy program today by angrily accusing the American oil industry of being uninterested in solutions to the nation's energy problems and intent on staging “the biggest rip‐off in history.”

“The oil companies apparently want it all,” he said grimly in a nationally televised news conference at which he warned of “potential war profiteering” by the companies in an “impending energy crisis.” [Opening statement, Page A16.]

In uncharacteristically stern tones, Mr. Carter identified the petroleum lobby as the major source of opposition to his energy program.

He said that under his energy policy, the oil companies would receive a combined income of $100 billion by 1985, which he said was about $82 billion above their 1973 receipts, but that “the oil companies and gas companies are now demanding” $150 billion.

No Incentive Is Seen

Those screeching “it’s just gas prices” have clearly never taken a single economics class. The classic shock to any basic economic model is a rise in gas prices. It spills into everything.

On Feb 22, Biden halted new oil and gas drilling in the name of climate change.
Russia invaded Ukraine 2 days later.

AOC on the US getting oil from Iran or Venezuela: 'None of these options are good ones'

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, when asked by Fox News' Hillary Vaughn Tuesday for her thoughts on the U.S. banning Russian oil imports and whether the Biden Administration should turn to Iran or Venezuela instead, said "none of these options are good ones because of our dependency on oil."

"I think this is the deal with fossil fuels in general is that it's not an accident that oil rich states tend to be petro-authoritarian states," she said.

"And so none of these options are good ones because of our dependency on oil, and so while I understand there are short term, you know, supply issues that need to be addressed," she continued, "it's very alarming that many of the people pushing to increase and skyrocket either imports or production, domestic production in the short term are not talking about what we really need to be doing in terms of rapid investments in solar and wind."
