SACRAMENTO, CA — There was a massive police response to a reported active shooter at a church in the Arden area of Sacramento County Monday evening.

The scene is near Wyda Way and Ethan Way — the site of ‘The Church in Sacramento.’

Police and other emergency services in California are responding to a mass shooting at a church near Sacramento, local officials and witnesses say. Multiple people, including a child, have been killed.

The incident began just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday when officers were called for an active shooter at “The Church in Sacramento,” which is located on Wyda Way in Arden-Arcade, a community on the edge of Sacramento.

Witnesses said an unidentified man walked into the church and opened fire, according to CBS Sacramento. The current status of the suspect – or his identity – was not immediately known.

There are initial reports that at least five people were shot, and the fire department confirmed that “multiple” victims have died, including a child. Police have yet to confirm the exact number of victims.

A large number of emergency services, including a SWAT team, were called while officers worked to secure the scene. We’re working to gather more details.

A church elder who spoke with KCRA 3 said the church — including its gates — were closed at the time. The only person who would have been there was the caretaker, who the elder said was not there.

Sacramento City Council Member Eric Guerra tweeted that the shooting was a mass casualty incident.

Apparently a father killed his children in the church and then killed himself. All the kids were less than 15 reports say.

Israel and Texas seems to have put a stop to this kind of thing.  You go into a church or a school to murder and butcher and you get full of holes.  Its much easier to pull that crap in areas where no guns are allowed (To protect yourself).

Father Kills Daughters, Himself During California Church Shooting

A father allegedly violated a restraining order and shot and killed his daughters then himself during a Monday attack in a Sacramento, California, church.

The Associated Press reports the father was estranged from his wife and was meeting his daughters at the church for a supervised visit.

Police received calls about shots fired around 5 p.m. and KHQ-Q6 notes that police arrived at the church to find five people dead.

The AP described the five deceased individuals as a father, his three daughters, and the “chaperone” who was with the daughters during the visit.

California has the most stringent gun controls of any state in the Union.

The state has a red flag law, universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, a 10-day waiting period on gun purchases, a limit on the number of guns a law-abiding citizen can buy each month, a “good cause” requirement for concealed carry permit issuance, a ban on campus carry for self-defense, a ban on K-12 teachers being armed for classroom defense, and numerous controls on ammunition, including background checks for ammunition purchases.

Mr. M and I are on our church security team, and we're very cautious about parental disputes and the potential for violence. The church has a pre-school and Saturday youth basketball, so we make sure to know whether any of the kiddies' parents are in the midst of divorce, protection orders, etc. Sometimes, we've been given a photo of someone who might cause trouble, so that we might be prepared. We're all carrying. Thank goodness, that is not prohibited in Pa.

David Fidel Mora-Rojas, 39, overstayed his visa after entering California from his native Mexico in December 2018
He was arrested last month after assaulting a California Highway Patrol office
Mora faced deportation and being sent back to Mexico although no proceedings had been instigated
He committed suicide after shooting his three daughters and their chaperone
Samantha, 10; Samarah, 9 and Samia, 13 were all shot dead together with  Nathaniel Kong, 59, during Monday's shooting
Officials said Mora was under a restraining order from his longtime girlfriend
Kong was executive at the church, where Mora lived, and was the one who served him with the restraining order in May 2021
Friends said Mora had previously battled drug addiction and mental illness

Damn shame he  committed suicide. He should have spent years suffering in solitary confinement while waiting to be burned at the stake.

Yes,I DID write "burned at the stake". That punishment should be brought back for especially brutal cases like this one. If it only convinces 1 in a thousand from committing similar crimes,it would be worth it.
