There should be no rush to confirmation.
Indeed, how can there BE "a confirmation", when there is NO VACANCY YET on the Supreme Court ???
Yes, Breyer has announced that he's going to "retire", but he's not retired YET -- he's still sitting as an active justice on The Court.
There should be no confirmation vote until Breyer has VACATED his seat and is, officially, "retired".
Going further, there should not even be confirmation hearings until "a true vacancy" exists.
The Republicans have the absolute power to enforce this, because the Senate Judiciary Committee cannot proceed with a vote (or even hearings?) unless there are at least two Republican members present.
No Republican committee members present = no vote, and perhaps no hearings.
The Pubbies can't really STOP this one from being seated.
But... they CAN "slow things down".
They should do so.
