Rep. Jamie Raskin Allegedly Violated STOCK Act by Not Disclosing Wife’s $1.5M Stock Payout

Jordan Dixon-Hamilton 3 Feb 2022

Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) allegedly violated the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act by failing to disclose his wife’s $1.5 million stock payout, according to Business Insider.

President Joe Biden nominated Raskin’s wife, Sarah Bloom Raskin, for vice chairwoman of supervision at the Federal Reserve, a vital financial position. Raskin’s wife previously served at the top levels of the U.S. Treasury and the Federal Reserve during former President Barack Obama’s administration.

Raskin took eight months to disclose his wife’s sale of 195,936 shares of Reserve Trust, where she sat on the advisory board. This sale resulted in $1.5 million in profit for Raskin’s wife.

Some real teeth need to be put into these laws.  Trading by members of Congress, federal officials, and their family members, should be tightly limited and controlled, and the penalty for a violation should be disgorging the gross proceeds - not just the profits - attributable to that violation.

President Joe Biden has nominated Sarah Bloom Raskin to the position of vice chairwoman of supervision at the Federal Reserve.

Biden nominated Sarah Bloom Raskin as the Fed's vice chairwoman of supervision.
Her husband's paperwork shows the couple failed to properly disclose large holdings in Reserve Trust, a fintech company.
The late disclosures are a violation of the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012.

Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland violated a federal conflict-of-interest law by failing to properly disclose stock shares his wife received for advising a Colorado-based financial technology trust company.

Same guy that heads the Jan 6 commission? Need to be focused on and exposed, and let the fallout come down on the already compromised committee.
