Biden Admin. Expected to Unveil Taxpayer-Funded Program Providing Legal Assistance to Illegal Aliens

The Biden Administration is expected to unveil a new federal program bankrolled by American taxpayers that will provide “legal services” to illegal aliens who unlawfully crossed the southern border, including the record-shattering two million aliens who crossed the border in calendar year 2021.

First reported by Axios, the federal program would mandate that private contractors working within the Department of Homeland Security provide “a range of legal services” to illegal border jumpers and other illegal aliens arriving at border stations in Texas, Arizona, and California.

The Axios report states:

It will be for migrants attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, those in Border Patrol custody, in the [Remain in Mexico] program, or who may be enrolled in [Remain in Mexico] or otherwise placed in deportation proceedings, according to the published documents on SAM.gov.

Increasing migrant access to legal services has long been a goal of the administration… Contractors will explain the migrants’ options for staying in the U.S. while deportation orders are pending, as well as general immigration court practices and procedures.
