Five Democrats the left plans to target

Progressives are preparing to try to clear out Democrats they say are hampering their ability to remodel the country while their party still controls Congress.

They see the skeleton Build Back Better (BBB) package and failed voting rights bill as warning signs that a few stubborn lawmakers can — and, if given the chance, will — block and blow up the liberal vision they had dreamed about enacting when President Biden took office.

When things fell further apart last week, leaving the president and congressional Democrats scrambling for a way to advance their two main priorities, progressives saw a clear fix to all of it: primary challenges ahead of November. 


“We need strong progressives in Congress to have some sort of counterweight and leverage against the conservative, corporate backed Democrats who are an obstacle to delivering results,” said Waleed Shaheed, a spokesperson for Justice Democrats, a progressive group that has backed several liberal challengers to Democratic incumbents in recent years.

“These primaries are where those seats come from, where that leverage comes from,” he said.

Hate to say it…but all too often…I see the same kind of shortsighted “purification of the party” tendencies from the Conservative side of the aisle. Unlike the Left, we must always remember the old Reagan axiom of nominating the MOST conservative candidate for an office WHO CAN ACTUALLY WIN that office. I hate RINO’s as much as the next guy but you can’t run hard right candidates in +15 Dem districts and think you can win that seat. In the end, you must win a majority and that quite literally can’t be done without SOME more centrist Republicans in more liberal states like those so common in the Northeast. Susan Collins is a pain in the ass but without her Biden gets EVERYTHING he wants this past year…to include BBB and the voting rights travesty.

Radicals and idealogues on both sides have a revolutionary mentality - the ends justify the means.

Paradoxically, the American system of government is the means is the end - participatory competition of ideas, debate, and voting.

The Dems repeated the mistakes of the Affordable Care Act to attempt to pass BBB.  For the sake of expediency, the Dems circumvented the normal legislative process by abusing the budget reconciliation process.  A few individuals crafted a framework in a backroom, and demanded that legislators vote for a bill without any text.  This time it didn't work.

Now, the Dems will purge their party of moderates as the Republicans have mostly done.  Unless there is significant legislative regime change, the United States Congress will lose its relevancy as a check and balance on Executive and Judicial powers.  This leaves the Federal Government to govern via the tyranny of Executive Orders and Judicial Overreach.

I doubt they can take down Cuellar with Cisneros.

Cuellar had over 58% of the vote in 2020 and his district is going even more red with illegals topping the chief worry.

Tough to achieve total obedience when the party has opposite forces within it such as raving Muslims and gays.  That is a fight just waiting to happen.

If I could have just one wish to come true,it would be to see a law passed making it a felony to identify a leftist as a "Liberal".

There is NOBODY on the planet LESS "liberal" than a leftist because the leftist dream is for a leftist police state where the leadership dictates to the people every aspect of their lives.

It's akin to calling Pol Pot or Stalin "liberals".

Yeah, but with Bidens support falling through the floor, it looks like Biden being teflon like slick willy/Obama days are over.  Even the media and democrats 100% lock step party are showing massive cracks in the lock-step socialist wall.  Like the little boy crying Wolf, the democrats are void of understanding to far, is indeed to far, too much.  Laughable racist, racist, racist, laughable screaming Nazi, pro-Communism, pro-radical Islam, abandoning American army, ambassador, Americans over seas(afghanistan), Whites, blacks, Latinos, pro-foreigners here-neglecting Americans here.
