2nd US Armored Brigade at Fort Stewart received first BAE’s AMPVs

WASHINGTON – The long-awaited Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle of BAE Systems has started to arrive, according to information on the social network, BulgarianMilitary.com has learned. Ronkainen’s tweet claims that “the first batch of AMPVs from BAE Systems is already on station and ready for initial operational testing. The 2nd Armored Brigade, 3ID at Fort Stewart, will begin training this month to use and maintain the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV).”


Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle or AMPV program of the US government, which aims to replace obsolete M113 armored personnel carriers. To this end, in 2014 the Pentagon awarded a contract for the design and development of AMPV, which was later won by BAE Systems. According to the agreement, BAE Systems is to produce and deliver 2,897 AMPV units to the US military.

A prototype was released in 2016, which passed tests, and serial production began in 2020. The deal is valued at nearly $ 10.723 billion, making nearly $ 3.7 million per unit price.
