Biden sparks confusion, cleanup on Russia-Ukraine remarks
By Laura Kelly and Brett Samuels - 01/19/22 07:08 PM EST

President Biden on Wednesday sparked confusion and intense criticism over suggestions that Russia would face lesser consequences for launching a “minor” attack against Ukraine, prompting the White House to quickly try to clean up the remarks.

“It depends on what he does as to what extent we’re going to be able to get total unity on the NATO front,” the president said during a press conference at the White House, referring to the allies of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

“I think what you’re going to see is that Russia will be held accountable if it invades, and it depends on what it does. It’s one thing if it’s a minor incursion and we end up having to fight about what to do and not to do,” Biden said.

The White House quickly sought to clarify Biden’s position and tamp down concerns among allies and Ukrainian officials amid warnings Russia could take action imminently.

I'm not in the least confused about Joe at all; he is an evil demented person and has no business in the WH.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Cleanup: Jen Psaki Tries to Walk Back Biden’s Weak Statement on Ukraine

Joel B. Pollak 19 Jan 2022

White House press secretary Jen Psaki issued a statement Wednesday evening in an attempt to undo the damage caused by President Joe Biden’s weak statements on Ukraine and Russia at a press conference just moments before in the White House.

As Breitbart News reported, Biden revealed that he expected Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine: “[H]e will move in, he has to do something.” Biden also suggested that the U.S. and NATO might not respond to a “minor incursion.”

Even CNN was aghast, reporting that Ukrainian officials — meeting at that moment in Kyiv with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken — watched with “horror” as Biden appeared to to have given the “green light” to Putin to invade their country.

Psaki issued the following statement:

Quote
President Biden has been clear with the Russian President: If any Russian military forces move across the Ukrainian border, that’s a renewed invasion, and it will be met with a swift, severe, and united response from the United States and our Allies. President Biden also knows from long experience that the Russians have an extensive playbook of aggression short of military action, including cyberattacks and paramilitary tactics. And he affirmed today that those acts of Russian aggression will be met with a decisive, reciprocal, and united response.
