Any bets as to what SCOTUS will do? They are out to hang Trump -- just my opinion.

Handful of Trump White House documents to be released to Jan. 6 committee unless Supreme Court intervenes

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot is set to receive a limited number of Trump White House documents later Wednesday, material the former president has sought to withhold, unless the Supreme Court makes a last-minute intervention.

The National Archives had indicated in a court filing it was prepared to give the House panel four pages of material at 6 p.m. ET Wednesday, absent any court order.

A federal appeals court had earlier allowed a larger batch of executive documents to be turned over to the House panel, but that was put on hold pending a Supreme Court appeal for an injunction on immediate release filed by Trump’s legal team. The four pages in the possession of the Archives are separate from the broader set of documents that was reviewed by the appeals court.

Trump's lawyers and the Biden administration are at odds over whether the four pages should also be withheld until the Supreme Court rules. The high court has given no indication when it would decide.

Wow!!!  8-1 Vote.  I knew that they would vote against him, but I didn't think the ruling would be so overwhelmingly against him.

In an 8-1 decision, the court stated that the former president was unable to exert executive privilege to keep the documents hidden. Justice Clarence Thomas, often considered among the most conservative members of the court, was the lone dissenting vote.

We shall soon find out if these documents are at all damaging; I hope not.

A handful?  700 documents will be turned over!   **nononono* This I'm afraid will bury Trump.  Perhaps not so much because it will reveal anything he did, but bits and pieces of the documents will be revealed to make him look guilty of inciting an insurrection.

Approximately 700 documents related to the events of January 6 will now be turned over to the committee for review. These documents are reportedly related to the Trump administration's actions leading up to the attack on the U.S. Capitol Building, as well as potentially the efforts of Trump to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

In Rebuke to Trump, Supreme Court Won’t Block Release of Jan. 6 Files

The case was a constitutional clash on the scope of executive privilege and whether a former president may invoke it when the current one has waived it.

....“Because the court of appeals concluded that President Trump’s claims would have failed even if he were the incumbent, his status as a former president necessarily made no difference to the court’s decision,” the order said.

It was the latest example of a case in which the Supreme Court, which includes three justices appointed by Mr. Trump, ruled against him and his allies on issues related to the 2020 election................

Clarence Thomas was the dissent.

I noted that up thread.  Also noted in a different article all 3 of those justices that Trump appointed have pretty much voted against him.

In another thread - NY - they are also investigating him for fraud as well.  Things are not looking good for him.
