What is wrong with people??? There's no excuse!! Most hospitals and police departments accept newborns with no questions asked (at least around here) when young mothers cannot care for them.

Surveillance video taken outside a New Mexico store shows the moments a teen mom tossed her unwanted newborn into a dumpster – and the rescuers who pulled her to safety five hours later.

"I got a call about 8:30 on Friday, and Hobbs PD said, ‘Hey Joe are your cameras working out back?’" Joe Imbriale, the owner of Rig Outfitters, told Fox News Digital. "They said we have a crime scene."

At first, he thought someone had broken into the store. But the video showed a woman pulling up in a white car around 2 p.m. MT Friday, unceremoniously tossing a black bag from the backseat into the dumpster and driving off.....

I saw this on our evening news. Funny how she could have visited an abortion clinic just a day or two previously, had them kill the baby, and they could have thrown the corpse out in the trash without any repercussions.

At least this child survived.

Do you know that thousands, maybe millions of couples who can't have a child would love to have that baby...we were one of them .......we adopted our first son 43 years ago Jan 11th 1979.....seems like yesterday...

Yes, you make a valid point and I thought of that as well, but this baby may have not survived being thrown in the dumpster either. Again our local hospitals, fire departments, and police departments have areas that are safe to drop off newborns.

Tells you something about the *mother*...many options on what to do with her baby...she chose to throw it away.

New Mexico passed their safe haven law in 2013 but just like in the other states with such laws there are mothers who either don't know or worse just don't care and throw their babies away. But don't worry some lib doctor will will claim she isn't responsible because of post partum depression, victim of rape or incest or some other reason and she will walk with no repercussion and be able to do it all over again.

HOBBS, N.M. (AP) — An 18-year-old New Mexico woman accused of abandoning her newborn baby in a dumpster pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of attempted first-degree murder and child abuse.

Alexis Avila of Hobbs was told by a Lea County judge at her arraignment that she can stay out of jail pending trial and set house arrest as a main condition of release.

Police said a group of people were looking through a dumpster for anything of value last Friday in Hobbs, near the Texas border, when they heard what they thought was a dog or kitten.

They moved a trash bag and found a baby inside, wrapped in a dirty blanket with its umbilical cord still attached. ...

Search warrants for Avila’s car and her family’s home turned up blood evidence, clothing and a towel.

Authorities said the infant is in the care of the New Mexico Department of Children, Youth and Families. ...
