MSNBC’s Reid: ‘Selfish’ White Christian Conservatives Think America Was ‘Built for Them’

MSNBC anchor Joy Reid said Monday on her show “The ReidOut” that Republican “white so-called Christian conservatives” were “selfish” people who think America was built for them.

Reid said, “They’re white so-called Christian conservatives who feel like this country was built by them for them, and so everyone but them needs to suck it up and let them have their way or else. Their party, the Republicans, have gone from pretending to be the party of personal responsibility to unmasking themselves as the party of selfish people that cannot play well with others. And they even have their own cable networks plus something called GETTR, which kind of sounds like porn. Moving on.”

She added, “So the special citizen says, ‘I don’t want to wear a mask, and if you try to attack me, I’ll attack the low-waged clerks at the store or at the Burger King. I don’t want to get the vaccine either. If people get sick from me, oh well, not my problem. Joe Rogan said it’s fine. My kids aren’t going to mask up to protect those other kids. F those other kids, their parents are probably commies anyway.’ Which usually means people who want rights for other people and who give a damn what happens to them.”

Reid concluded, “So this midterm election year, we’re going to find out which brand of citizenship is stronger, and the answer will tell us whether our democracy is strong enough to survive.”

For whom does she believe the Founding Fathers (all those evil white Christians!) established this nation, if not for those - ALL of those - who would come after them? That includes us white Christian conservatives, as well as blacks, liberals, Buddhists and everyone else who would be citizens of the USA in the years after 1776.

Well,I can remember seeing individual cops WALKING beats alone back in the 1950's,armed only with a 6 shot 38 special revolver,a black jack,and a nightstick. I don't even think they had radios to call for help,and truly,they didn't need them because if push came to shove,armed citizens would come to their aid,and damn near EVERYBODY back then had firearms in their homes and businesses.

I also honestly can't remember a single police shoot-out in the moderate-sized southern city I grew up in.

"Home Invasions"? You're kidding,right? Even most people in the cities back then came from rural areas,and had shotguns or a rifle propped in a corner,and would blow your ass away if you tried to kick in their doors.

Or any reports of child molestation,child-beating,etc,etc,etc being reported in the "white news". Seems like ALL that stuff happened in the black sections and was most likely reported in the "black" newspapers.

Well, duh......who the hell else does she think they were building it for? Oh, yeah, I forgot...according to black legend America was built on the backs of blacks.
I bet white people don't know that everything in America was built by black people. Even the North where they were minuscule in numbers and shut out of building trades for many decades.
I suppose even the Irish immigrants who died building the Erie Canal and other American landmarks were all just blacks in white makeup.
Reid just might be the dumbest talking head on tv proving once again that diversity isn't necessarily our greatest strength.

You are welcome. When I heard the narrative, I did some digging and was shocked at how few slaves compared to elsewhere actually came into the US.
