China, U.S. Signal Arms Control Intent in Statement With Nuclear States
By John Feng On 1/4/22 at 5:46 AM EST

China has joined the U.S., Russia, France and the UK in signaling its intent to curb nuclear proliferation with a joint statement released concurrently by the five nations on Monday.

Washington and Moscow control what are currently the world's two largest nuclear arsenals, but the U.S. has sounded the alarm over Beijing's rapid arms buildup. The Pentagon estimated in last November's China Military Power Report that Beijing will operate around 700 warheads by 2027 and "at least 1,000" by the end of the decade.

The Chinese government, meanwhile, has all but dismissed arms control dialogue while its nuclear stockpile—estimated at between 200 and 300—remains dwarfed by those of the U.S. and Russia. It argues its nuclear deterrent is defensive in nature, as evidenced by its stated "no first use" policy. Its officials also stressed that it wouldn't engage with Washington on a bilaterally basis, and that any such dialogue would have to involve Moscow.

You can trust China to do as they say.   Saaaaay, didn't China back out of their commitment to reduce coal and fossil fuel use they made to the United Nitwits and therefore, the world?  Say yes, everyone. :yowsa:

What are those God-less Chi-coms up to?

The United Nations Nation Security Council nations signal an intent to curb nuclear proliferation just as Second World nations - India, Pakistan, Israel, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia/United Arab Emirates - show up to the nuclear party.

Nukes offer deterrence against "liberation" or "spreading democracy" by the members of the UN Security Council.

If I were Taiwain, I'd be looking into starting a nuclear weapons program to deter China.

Maybe Ukraine is in the market for some nukes to deter Russion aggression.

Libya and North Korea proved that having nukes is better than not having them.  Poor Khadafi gave up his nuclear ambitions only to have NATO military aircraft provide cover to the rebels that would kill him.  Meanwhile, Rocket Man is still drinking Hennessy in North Korea.
