Very sad news. Hershel “Woody” Williams has died at age 98. Of the 473 Medal of Honor recipients from WWII, Woody was the last survivor. Iwo Jima vet.

@mountaineer

Odd how that "Veteran" in the photo doesn't know how to render a proper hand salute, isn't it?

I bet his Harley is either a rental,or had  wheels and pedals.

James Caan dead at 82
Just D@MN! Loved his stuff.
He did a little known film called "Thief" A competitor tries to rip him off. Caan grabs him by the neck and tells him "I'm the last guy in the world you want to F*#K with!" Great movie.

It was interesting watching him as a member of The Old Guard in Gardens of Stone.

I just read that it was such a huge success as a Made for TV movie ABC released into theaters.

Also the TV sensors would not let the movie disclose the type of cancer Brian contracted.  It was Testicular Cancer and you couldn't say that on TV.

Manny Charlton, Nazareth Guitarist and Early Guns N’ Roses Producer, Dies at 80

Manny Charlton, founding guitarist of the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth and producer of Guns N’ Roses early demos, has died, according to a post from his grandson. No cause of death was cited; he was 80.

He was Nazareth’s guitarist, producer and co-songwriter from the band’s formation in 1968 until 1990, performing on the band’s most successful albums, notably 1973’s “Razamanaz” and 1975’s “Hair of the Dog.” The latter album went platinum in the U.S. and featured the group’s biggest hit, a dramatic cover of “Love Hurts,” originally made famous by the Everly Brothers, that reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. The group also scored a later, lesser hit single with 1980’s “Holiday.”

Navy WWII vet Larry Storch, who found fame playing a soldier on TV, dies at 99
Lynn Elber, The Associated Press
Fri, July 8, 2022 at 4:41 PM
Quote
LOS ANGELES — World War II Navy veteran Larry Storch, the rubber-faced comic whose long career in theater, movies and television was capped by his “F Troop” role as zany Cpl. Agarn in the 1960s spoof of Western frontier TV shows, died Friday. He was 99.

Storch died of natural causes early Friday in his New York City apartment, according to his manager, Matt Beckoff.

Although “F Troop” lasted only two seasons on ABC, from 1965 to 1967, it became a cult favorite in reruns.  ...

Storch served on the submarine tender Proteus during the war along with a radio operator named Bernie Schwartz, according to his Facebook page. They were on the Proteus in Tokyo Bay Sept. 2, 1945, and witnessed Japan’s formal surrender onboard the nearby battleship Missouri.

Storch later said his Navy service greatly boosted his career. During the war, Schwartz had told him, “I’m going to be a movie star.” Storch, already a seasoned comic on the resort circuit, had tried to talk him out of it, warning him that the business could be tough.

They met again after the war, and Schwartz, who by now had changed his name to Tony Curtis, remembered his funny shipmate. Storch went on to appear in eight of Curtis’ movies, including “Captain Newman,” “Who Was That Lady?” and “The Great Race.” ...
