The last two years have seen an unprecedented escalation in a decades-long war on the American past. But there are lots of logical flaws in attacking prior generations in U.S. history.

Critics assume their own judgmental generation is morally superior to those of the past. So, they use their own standards to condemn the mute dead who supposedly do not measure up to them.

Yet 21st-century critics rarely acknowledge their own present affluence and leisure owe much to history's prior generations whose toil helped create their current comfort.

And what may future scolds say of the modern generation that saw over 60 million abortions since Roe v. Wade, even as fetal viability outside the womb continued to progress to ever earlier ages?

Ancient Greece & Rome founded Western Civilization while surviving/thriving for some 12 centuries.
In contrast, we are tad past 2, while leading the world in creating the greatest array of assholery that ever existed.
Abortion, was a sub-conscious form of cultural/societal suicide to them and verboten.
Yet we celebrate and embrace it as an expression of freedom.
Cold reality is that it is only a matter of time before we extinguish ourselves!!!!!!

You seem to have forgotten that before Christianity became the normative religion of the Empire, the Greek and Roman pagans exposed infants at birth as a regular practice.  Christians taking in the abandoned infants was one of the peculiarities that brought them to the attention of the authorities for persecution.  Even abortions were common enough that St. John Chrysostom, preaching in the first half-century after St. Theodosius the Great made Christianity the state religion of the Empire, still preached urgently against them, condemning men who pushed women (not their wives) to have abortions for seeking to make them add murder to fornication.

Respectfully, what I'm asserting is plain and simple history.
Despite the attitude of various neurotics during Ancient times,
Abortion (and Homosexuality) was ;
NEVER ACCEPTABLE CULTURAL/SOCIETAL BEHAVIOR AS THEY
WERE DESTRUCTIVE OF THE FAMILY UNIT. N-E-V-E-R!!!
In contrast, they are norms for the jackasses who lead us.
