Electric vehicle revolution brings changes to Minnesota garages
With more vehicles on the way, focus on at-home charging intensifies

The monumental effort underway to build a public electric vehicle charging network across the United States involves intense planning and billions of dollars.

But one of the linchpins in the electric vehicle revolution is not on the highway. It's at home on the wall of the garage or apartment building.

The vast majority of electric vehicle (EV) charging takes place at home, after all. Home owners with garages are the easiest part of the charging puzzle, and there's a brisk business in upgrading residential chargers in Minnesota. It can be more complicated for multi-unit dwellers — particularly for renters, where the lack of charging access is a major barrier to driving electric, and a serious equity issue. ...

New vehicles come with a Level 1 charger that plugs into a standard 110-volt outlet, and that's adequate if your daily drive is less than 30 miles, Kukkonen said. Some homeowners are installing more powerful 240-volt outlets for faster Level 2 chargers that can recharge a flat battery overnight. ...

Shaver said the dedicated power line, meter, charger and installation altogether cost $2,555. Because they both work from home, they could probably get by plugging the Bolt into the garage's 110-volt outlet, they said. But it takes more than a day to fully charge it with that "drip" outlet, Mekoli said with a laugh.   ...

Yes, it all sounds so very practical and economical.  As long as you can leave your car parked in the garage for an entire day and not drive very far when it's unplugged, you'll be fine.  :silly:

Where will all the new electric power generation capacity come from?

It's notable they don't give any consideration to the increase in consumers' electric bills that happens when they add a second oven that runs for hours every day.  And that is assuming their electrical service panels (breaker boxes) are capable of adding that much extra load.  I'll bet the chargers draw 40 Amps.

From here, silly.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

I just love this line, there's that special word again 'equity'. Does that mean that to be equitable the taxpayer should pay for the installation of 240v circuits(what if the panel doesn't have the capacity) for apartment dwellers? Of course to be 'equitable' would that mean only apartment dwellers of the approved pigmentation? And just how are these 'people' who lack the 'equity' going to come up with the scratch to buy an EV if they can't afford the level 2 chargers?

What am I sayin, the taxpayer will pay, after all most of them are White supremacists.

Wouldn't be a hoot if independent garages would just balk and say they don't want to mess with electric vehicles.

I as shop owner would be concerned about  storing these types a vehicles which to date have had a high risk of catching on fire.

Then there's this:

Owner blows up his Tesla and incinerates an effigy of Elon Musk inside in protest at £17,000 cost of replacing the battery in Finland

Tuomas Katainen blew up his Tesla S Model 2012 with 66lbs of dynamite
The car's battery failed, and he was faced with a whopping £17,000 repair bill
Instead, he contacted contacted the local Youtubers Pommijätkät 'bomb dudes'
With their help, he rigged his Tesla with the explosives and blew it smithereens

...   Tesla and Musk have faced a wave of complaints about the cost of replacing a battery, with third party garages providing replacements for a quarter of the cost.

According to electric vehicle news website Electrek, another Tesla owner in the United States was told a battery pack replacement would cost him $22,500 (£16,800) at a Tesla service centre.

Instead, he took it to an independent garage who provided a working replacement battery for $5,000 (£3,762) - less than a quarter of what he was originally quoted by Tesla.

Tesla's warranty covers battery replacements if the capacity drops below 70% within  150,000 miles or eight years  of purchase.

However owners of older models are being left with large repair bills from Telsa as their batteries lose power and give their cars a reduces range.   ...

Soon to be repeated enmasse here too with the rubes who have bought off on this EV scam.

I hope every single one of these fools singles out the enviro-whackos and their socialist congressional enablers, and the taring and feathering begins.
