Why Socialism Does Not Work

I think it would be helpful if we ended the academic portion of this discussion.  We've got very little time left on the clock to convince an entire generation what socialism is and why it doesn't work.

What would you tell them in 15 seconds?

I would tell them; Socialism hasn't worked in the past, isn't working now, and sure as heck won't work in the future.

Socialism goes to communism...then STARVATION AND ....DEATH!   PROVEN OUT BY HISTORY. Mao, Stalin, PotPol, Mugabe.

Of course.  I mean economics in the broader sense.  Money is simply a convenient means of facilitating exchange and of measuring relative worth in a common unit.

The answer to the malaise enervating our culture/society has nothing to do w/the reality
that Capitalism is a superior economic system and everything to do w/the reality that we
have abandoned the Values & Virtues upon which we were founded.

But two to four years of government-forced mandates on masks and vaccines and shut-downs dulls the hell out of "human nature".

Watch the "OTHER HAND"...the one that maintains "mail-in" ballots.  That's the key.

Thank you and when you give government control of what THEY can give you, 'RATIONS'. They also can TAKE away. I like capitalism.  Everyone has a chance with that, not with government run SOCIALISM.  Everybody the same.

Socialism i.e. collectivism requires - at least for the little people - a virtual monastic vow of poverty and self denial while doing everything with revolutionary fervor for the glory of the State and Ideology.

Which basically makes it a forced religion. Worse, people soon figure out that it's just another version of the old medieval Kings and Serfs.

vonMises proposed socialism cannot work because the state cannot collect all the information needed to make optimal economic decisions, and that it offers no incentives toward optimal economic behavior on the part of the populace.  Hayek argued that even if it could, it could not process the information in real-time as efficiently as the distributed processing power of the market.  Both critiques were borne out by the experience of the countries that fell under the Bolshevik yoke during the 20th century.
