OXFORD TWP., Mich. (WWJ) -- A new video shows the terrifying moments inside Oxford High School during a school shooting that killed three and wounded eight others on Tuesday afternoon.
In the hours since the tragedy, little has been revealed about the alleged shooter, though the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed he was a 15-year-old sophomore that attended the high school.
Now, video footage has surfaced that seemingly shows a chilling scene from inside the school at the time of the shooting.
In the clip, students are huddled inside a barricaded classroom, and a voice on the other side of the door claiming to be the “Sheriff’s Office” tells them “it’s safe to come out.”
When the teacher responds that they do not feel safe enough to leave the classroom, the voice replies, “Open the door and look at my badge, bro.”
At that point, those inside the classroom realize it is likely the voice of the shooter, and begin to scramble out of a nearby window and across the school grounds to another building.
They are then greeted by an actual sheriff’s deputies, who assure them that they are safe.
In another video believed to have been shot by an Oxford student, a teen on camera says, "We're in lockdown right now." The student then adds, in an apparent reference to the shooter: "He's living up to his word," which could imply that prior threats were made.
