US military uses New York to prepare for major military operations in cities

The U.S. Army has confirmed that it uses New York City as a big laboratory to prepare for a large-scale military operation in urban terrain.
According to a recent service news release, New York Army National Guard officers and senior sergeants used NYC to explore the challenges of military operations in big cities during a five-day class that ended Nov. 6.
The release said that the 18 officers and senior noncommissioned officers walked through the city’s neighborhoods, flew over them and toured the waterfront to gain an appreciation of the complexity of urban warfare. They also learned from New York City officials who deal with those urban challenges every day.
