Senate GOP blocks John Lewis voting rights bill

Republicans on Wednesday blocked the Senate from starting debate on a voting rights bill named after the late Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), marking the latest setback for Democrats in their push for new elections legislation.

Senators voted 50-49 on whether or not to bring up the bill, falling short of the 60 votes needed to move forward. Vice President Harris presided over part of the vote.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) voted no, a procedural step that lets him bring the bill back up in the future for another vote.


Unlike this year's previous failed election reform votes, which were on bills that stretched well beyond bolstering the Voting Rights Act, Democrats picked up a GOP supporter: Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska).

Murkowski and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) signed onto a revised version of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act on Tuesday after weeks of behind-the-scenes negotiating.

“Ensuring our elections are fair, accessible and secure is essential to restoring the American people’s faith in our Democracy. That’s why my colleagues and I have come together to introduce the bipartisan John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act," Manchin said in a statement.

They think it is back to 1920.  Everyone can vote in 2021!  Everyone, who is legal, of age.  No one, CAN, NOT, NOT VOTE!!!

What they want is all ILLEGALS , NON-CITIZENS VOTING,  NON TAX PAYERS,   (who do vote) AND THE DEAD VOTING.  MANY TIMES.  OVER AND OVER AGAIN.  JUST LIKE A TURD WORLD COUNTRY. I despise John Lewis, puppet of SOROS...Yes, I know he has passed.  His lies and dialogue were evil, like another communists name I can't think of right now.  He did a sit in in congress to remove our second , while being protected by d.c. police. The irony.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on Wednesday that Democrats will explore "alternative paths" to pass voting rights legislation after Republicans blocked a bill named after the late Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.).

I don't want ANY federal "voting rights" laws!  No new ones, and I want the old ones repealed.

Good on ya, Cyber. So do I.
Repeal both the Voting Rights Act AND the Civil Rights Act.
Two of the most destructive pieces of legislation ever enacted.

And, by the way, I WANT there to be "voter repression".

Only those who are qualified to vote, and who cast their votes legally in a timely manner, should be permitted to vote and have their votes counted.

Others... NO!
I want their votes THROWN OUT !
