McAuliffe: Parents Should Not Pick School Books — ‘We Have Experts’ Who Do That

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe (D) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that parents should not be picking school books because “we have experts who actually do that.”

Anchor Chuck Todd said, “Governor, I want to start with an excerpt from this debate that I was moderating at that had one line clipped out. You said it’s out of context. I want to play the exchange more fully and ask you about it on the other side. Here it is.”

In a video, McAuliffe said, “Parents had the right to veto books, not to be knowledgeable about it, also take them off the shelves. I’m not going to let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decision.”

He added, “So yeah, stopped a bill that I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they teach.”

Todd said, “Governor, what about that that you feel as if you were taken out of context? Do you feel as if anything you said there should reassure parents that they have some say in their kid’s schooling?”

McAuliffe said, “Listen, that was about a bill I vetoed which people were very happy that I vetoed the bill, that literally parents could take books out of the curriculum. I love Billy and Jack McAuliffe, my parents, but they should not have been picking my math or science book. We have experts who actually do that. He is closing his campaign on banning books. It’s created a controversy all over the book. He wants to ban Toni Morrison’s book, ‘Beloved.’ He’s going after someone who won a Nobel Prize, Presidential Medal of Freedom. He wants her books banned. In all the hundreds of books, you could look at, why the one black female author? Why did you do it? He’s ending the campaign on a racist dog whistle.”

Maybe so in the first instance, but ultimately, the books chosen by so-called "experts" should be subject to review by parents, and removed from schools if a sufficient number of parents object.

The core reason we are embedded in our morass is because we have lost sight of the attitudes, behaviors,
impulses and sentiments of the Wise who preceded us.
The Family Unit was the bedrock of culture/society and teacher of children, as our horse manure labeled
"structured education" mercifully did not exist.
That the voters of Virginia would choose a jackass like McAuliffe to govern them, says volumes!
Consider that Socrates was the instructor of Plato who was the instructor of Aristotle.
Further consider that Scholasticism developed to harmonize the Wisdom of the Greeks
with that of Europeans, principally Englishmen such as Anselm, Peter Abelard, Albertus Magnus, Duns Scotus,
William of Ockham; among hundreds. Each were self taught colleagues who shared creativity and concepts
which advanced disciplines, such as Law, Philosophy, Science, among many.
Yet we are the greatest! Why of course!!!!!

The same "experts" put a book into public schools that depict a little boy receiving oral sex from another little boy.  2nd or 3rd grade level picture book.

I am the best expert on my OWN CHILD.  Every look, action, word spoken.  I can tell he is lying or telling the truth etc.

What  I find odd is, how so many LEFTS.....want to hold a comment made by private citizen Trump, being illegally recorded in locker room talk,  as SO TERRIBLE.  Yet we have actual  rapist, married, Bill Clinton & no problem.  Or actual penis grabbing obama. ( not talk)  & his trannie....no issues.  All of them cheating.  The LEFT are now so 'Moral".   
Another is that president TRUMP was not drafted...yet neither was BILL CINTON, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders.   Two of these men running for president,  no problem for the LEFTS, yet,  talking daily about 'draft dodger".  President had his draft number 580. Twice A-1, ONCE Y-1.  Three possible draft years.  Draft ended in 300 numbers.  President had 4 years at military school, mentored by a general and it was the same as basic training.  President come out of that as an officer. Captain I believe.  Same as ROTC.  But they continue saying he is a draft dodger.  They don't even know the term.  That is someone who never signed up for the draft & went to Canada.   Just pisses me off. the many lies by LEFTS.

This says quite a lot as to how much the Dems have trashed public schools.  McAuliffe lives in Fairfax County.  Thirty years ago, Fairfax County boasted the best public schools in the entire country.  Any parent in the entire Commonwealth would have rejoiced at the opportunity to place their kids in Fairfax County schools.  But today that level of excellence has been replaced by the lower standards of socialist indoctrination.  So much so that the McAuliffes of the world now pony up the tuition for private school.
