I liked the original, all others kind of blew chunks.

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before

Pike was the original.

Never heard of Pike --- looked him up he played in the unaired episode??

I liked the original Star Trek series.  Anyone remember Lost In Space??  That was a real winner...lol

Which Star Trek captain does this remind you of?

Me too. Bakula was real. Picard was like having Frasier as Captain. Kirk was groovy. Janeway was a Katharine Hepburn imitator. Sisko was OK, but was stilted from overacting.

Pike was the original.
Who knows what would have happened if Hunter hadn't turned down the second pilot, would Star Trek made it through the first season? And if it had what about the movies considering Hunter died in 1969?

Pike was the Captain in the Pilot, later released as a two-part episode "The Menagerie."

As kids we basically memorized each and every episode of the original series.  Great to see Captain James T. Kirk made it to space.

Another vote here for Captain Archer.

and another vote for T'Pol in her cat suit.

Excellent analysis.

Kirk- was cartoonish, and honestly not that well acted by Shatner.  Chris Pine actually played the role better

Picard- OTOH,the  supposed Shakespearean high brow  took collaborative SJWish leadership to a ridiculous level.  I wish the Borg ship had spit him out like a watermellon seed.

Janeway- Spot on the Hepburn analysis.  But so damned unlikeable.  If they shot me in the Delta Quadrant, I think I would taken the space lock out, so I wouldn't have  to be stuck on the same ship with her for 70 years.

Sisko- Zzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!

Archer- Great job by Backula of showing of how a true leader operates in crisis.  My favorite, and he acted the part well.  My only gripe for Enterprise, was the Temporal War plot garbage.  Writers laid an egg on that one.

Oh my god! Seven of Nine in a catsuit made me crazy. Her body was perfect, ... so beckoning.
Seven of Nine lit my fire. Beautiful, super sexy woman.
She's changed a lot over 25 years, as have we all, but back then she was the stuff dreams are made of.

Favorite Pike line:  "I think I just blew a hole in that wall, and you're keeping me from seeing it.  How about I test my theory on your bloated head?"

Pike also comes back in season 2 of Discovery. It’s a prequel to the original series so you see Spock working with Pike.

Supposedly Paramount will be airing a new season too, featuring Pike and Spock as young men. It’s not canon, but it’s still fun.

Bakula had Porthos! One of my all time favorites from Star Trek.

What would be a fun poll is “who’s your favorite alien?”

Vulcans!

Least favorite are Borg.

I have to admit I am shocked so many of you are ST fans.

I don't know a single person in "flesh life" that was a fan. I tried watching it when it first came on,but stopped after maybe 3 episodes because besides the cheesy dialogue and horrible acting,it bored the snot out of me.

Then again,I was expecting something along the line of "The Twilight Zone",and was too young to realize just how special it and Rod Sterling really were.

STILL waiting for someone to match him.

@sneakypete

I was too little to really recall watching ST when it was first run, but I got into it first from the animated version on Saturday mornings, then in the 70s, it went to reruns and I was hooked.

I had a SF course in college and the professor showed “City on the edge of forever” in class. And by thAt time the first two ST movies were out as well.

Watched Picard as it came out, got a mini crush in Riker.

And so on.

The only person I know who is a fan in real life is my almost brother in law. He’s going to be a granddad for the first time next March, so I sent him a ST onesie for the baby.

Discovered TZ about ten years ago when I got a subscription to Netflix. Loved it. William Shatner looked so young when he’s seeing a monster outside the plane
