To be quite honest, the enviro-nazis should be encouraging the flagrant, wasteful use of hydrocarbon-based fuels, because they are a finite resource, and the sooner they run out (in fact, well before then - by the time they become prohibitively expensive to continue extracting) the world will have to move on to a different energy source.
Forcing people to reduce their consumption of fossil fuels simply lengthens the time they'll be around.
