Former President Donald Trump holds rally in Iowa on Saturday — first in the state since the 2020 election

Former President Donald Trump returned to Iowa Saturday for his first visit to the state after losing the presidential election in November.

The former president took the stage in front of thousands at the Iowa State Fairgrounds at 7:43 p.m.

Within minutes, Trump launched into an attack of President Joe Biden, who Trump said was taking the nation to the "brink of ruin."

"You can't say I didn't warn you," Trump said.

Trump's visit comes as more Iowans feel more favorably toward him than they ever have, according to the latest Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll. Overall, 53% hold favorable feelings toward Trump, and it's even higher among his fellow Republicans, with 91% feeling favorable toward him.

Hours before the rally began, thousands of supporters and merchants selling Trump paraphernalia lined up at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Potential candidates always test political waters in Iowa. Trump's trip is different

There always seems to be someone testing the presidential waters in Iowa.

Over the summer, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and former Vice President Mike Pence headlined an event for a prominent evangelical Christian group.

At a fundraiser, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton went viral doing pushups with his Iowa colleague, Chuck Grassley.

Coming to the early presidential nominating state this far ahead of the contest is about meeting voters and laying the groundwork for a potential campaign.

But what's happening Saturday night is unprecedented: Former President Donald Trump, who is teasing another run, is holding a large rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

The latest Iowa Poll, published this week in The Des Moines Register, says Trump is more popular in the state after leaving office. Pollster J. Ann Selzer says Trump remains very popular with Republicans and has made recent gains with independents.........

I think it's pretty obvious, Trump is going to run again in 2024. If he does, I doubt he's going to have any opposition....and then...there's the issue of election integrity.

Perhaps the bigger question is, will our country last that long? The thought of another 3 long years under Joe/Kamel is overwhelming.
