@mystery-akYou said, "People always vote their wallet...."

I would use different words to explain that as people actually "see", "experience" their needs day by day, as in, "Baby Joe needs shoes."; "Can't buy meat this week."; "No way I can pay for Joseph to go to college; have to get a loan." The above is real.
Go to another group still alive. People in their fifties, physical problems caused them to have to quit their job for the rest of their life. Average people do not have enough money to retire in their 50s. Government help starts in their 60s, not 50's. Husbands die and widows in their 50s cannot live decently if they are not able to work at a job.
There are many other examples of groups that must think about how they are going to make it another month - food, water bill, power bill, gas for car, health insurance, state taxes, IRS taxes, etc..
The above is "Jobs", "Economy". After that comes Coronavirus fear they might get the virus and not be able to keep the family going. That fear is last because the breadwinner is busy going to work and thinking the virus will surely miss him/her.
The future is not set for anyone on earth now - "when is the next virus variant going to hit the planet?"
