Delta Air Lines will charge employees on the company health plan $200 a month if they fail to get vaccinated against COVID-19, a policy the airline's top executive says is necessary because the average hospital stay for the virus costs the airline $40,000.

CEO Ed Bastian said that all employees who have been hospitalized for the virus in recent weeks were not fully vaccinated.

The airline said Wednesday that it also will stop extending pay protection to unvaccinated workers who contract COVID-19 on Sept. 30, and will require unvaccinated workers to be tested weekly beginning Sept. 12, although Delta will cover the cost. They will have to wear masks in all indoor company settings.  ...

Does Delta Airlines require vaccinations against any other disease as a prerequisite to working there?

We've witnessed a reversal of criteria: we used to require proof that someone was sick (e.g., a doctor's note to miss work). Now one is assumed to be sick until one proves that one is healthy (e.g., a negative test before traveling). The default assumption is that we're all sick.

Ironic, considering so many breakthrough infections were the Delta variant.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

We are living in a "world" where lies are seen as "truth," and truth is seen as "lies."

I've been daydreaming about a visit to Switzerland, and checked Travelocity yesterday for airfares. It appears no one may board a flight to Zurich without proof of vaccination. In light of all the evidence of the vaccine's shortcomings, failures and dangers, what are the chances that "rule" will be discarded?  :nono:

mountaineer wondered:
"It appears no one may board a flight to Zurich without proof of vaccination. In light of all the evidence of the vaccine's shortcomings, failures and dangers, what are the chances that "rule" will be discarded?"

It's Western Europe.
I wouldn't expect policies and rules to be changing any time soon.

Better forget Zurich and start lookin' towards Zion instead (as in, "Utah"...)
